rules are easy; you can disagree with ppl but be respectful, this thread isnt the place for debates. its an opinion thread, not a life or death thread. got it? thanks, loves.

got a music opinion you feel is unpopular? post it here

ill go first; glass animals wouldnt be underrated if yall actually bought their albums instead of pirating that stuff from animation memes

people get super uppity about correctly identifying and naming EDM genres and idc bro if it goes hard it goes hard. "actually if it has 3948574980634 bpm exactly its giga ultra shit-core not speedcore" i Don't Care and most of the time the artists themselves don't either LMAO

cal_alidocious

this ones very specific but people who only like the chorus of puppy princess by hot freaks and bash the rest of the song uhhh probably suck lmao

i dont care that you find the lyrics cringy or think the singers voice is too whiny, just let us have our happy love songs man :pensive:

Heat Waves is overplayed/overrated. It came out in 2020 why is it being replayed like crazy two years later? It was already overplayed back then.

v O-oh ok then.

^^ I’m a diehard glass animals fan but they have better songs. “It’s all so incredibly loud” portrays similar themes as heat waves but I see it as a lot more powerful.

Olivia Rodrigo’s songs are mediocre at best for the most part, honestly. I like Traitor and Brutal, I’m meh about Deja Vu, and I don’t really like Driver’s License or Good 4 You. Honestly with DL and G4U it’s more about it being overplayed to the moon.

Sam Smith’s Dancing with a Stranger song is extremely boring and slow. I love most of their music but that one in particular just sounds dull.

Imagine Dragon’s songs slap ftmp, I love Follow You, Bad Liar, and Whatever It Takes. I’ll admit Thunder and Believer were overplayed left and right but the rest of their songs make up for that, and those two would slap if they weren’t played so much in 2017-2018.

I love Coldplay, honestly I’ve never heard a song from them that truly flopped in my eyes, some songs are more enjoyable for me to listen to but I honestly love their music?

2000s music>1990s music>1980s Don’t come at me.

ABCDEFU is good. Like, really good. GAYLE over Olivia FTW

Justin Bieber sucks. I never liked the dude’s personality to begin with and only really knew him because of the shit that landed him in jail. I can tolerate his song Love Yourself and maybe Intentions on rare occasions but the rest is either cheesy, trying to make people feel bad for him, or both. Same thing with Miley Cyrus. I don’t like her as a person, but she has good songs. Wrecking Ball webkinz music videos were my childhood so I separate art from artist when I listen to her stuff.

revving up my engines about how much i have a distaste for most modern metal bands, i literally never shut up about it but it's so sad how a genre built off of the passion of rock and roll, punk, etc. has become as soulless and empty as it has. most albums past 2010 i don't even give a chance because i know i'll be disappointed and it'll just sound like empty, generic trash with zero groove - in a genre that shouldn't be generic at all! the entire point is that we aren't generic normies lol! every band thinks having the fastest bpm or the most complex riffs is what makes them good anymore when imo complex riffs actually sound horrible and most of the time the guitarists who use them do not know how to handle them properly.

Breakcore as a genre has gone downhill tbh. Not only is every other artist a sack of shit one way or another, most modern breakcore goes for either super-melodic to the point it's barely even breakcore (i mean its ok, but not what I'm looking for), or a ton of chops and samples slapped together with no rhyme or reason outside of being obnoxious for being obnoxious.

Ig thats why I've started listening to jungle & dnb more. There's less of that "being loud for being loud" bs & tbh I feel a bit burned by how many breakcore artists turned out to be... well... yunno...

Speaking of metal can we stop pretending that beggin from Maneskin is good.

Dance Monkey isn’t THAT bad. It sort of slaps and well, compared to “It’s Friday” it sounds like a work of art. It’s annoying but eh, could be worse.

resonance isn’t HOME’s best song. it’s absolutely wonderful and i think it sounds great, but it’s not his best.

also hold ep is criminally underrated go listen to hold ep
