Things you learned at an embarrassingly late age

Posted 7 years, 3 days ago (Edited 7 years, 2 hours ago) by MiscBoardMod

I saw this thread on reddit the other day and it was an overall pretty funny thread just because of some of the things people haven't learned until much later and some people who have had the same thing happen!

Now to be clear, do NOT  make fun of ANYONE in this thread!! It's only to share funny little stories and giggles etc, but please don't be rude to others about it! Some things may be obvious to you, while it's not the same for everyone!

As always, if there is any sensitive content that you feel may need to be blacked out, please do so!

There's not much more to add to this, so go wild!

Actually, i'm very unsure. I think riding the bus. I haven't rode a bus by myself for years untill a few years back. It went wrong, i cried.

I learned how to whistle when i was 13.... that was two years ago lmFAO

also i feel very young since most people in this site are in their twenties or above

I didn't know you could wash clothes in hot water... That costs extra so we always washed cold and in single loads so I didn't understand how it worked when cartoons would joke about colour bleed turning things pink until like right before college lol

RandomStorytale

Took me a little longer to understand the joke about May 4th. I was repeating it to myself forever until "Ohhh. That's actually a good pun!"

i never got on a train until last month in singapore. i still haven't locally, and i don't know if they work the same. i also learned driving really late, like last year? i'm 23 now. and though i took lessons i still can't drive for shit (and don't want to).

tbh i haven't learned so many mundane every day things that i can't even mention them in this thread and that's embarrassing gyaaa

reinapepiada

@boscocosco I'm 19 and I still don't know how to whistle actually HAHAHA I just make a weird noise whenever I try...

debonair

reinapepiada LMAO well i still cant do it really well... sometimes its just a odd sound that comes out through my two front teeth that sorta sounds like a whistle ;'D

PrinceSawyer

I....didn't learn how to drive or get my license until last year, when I turned 24. orz

TheLadyAnatola

I'm 23 and still have barely practiced driving. XD I'm gonna need to renew my learner's permit in about a month, now that I think about it... I also still don't know how to do a lot of other things, like riding a bike or swimming or whatever. I'm just sheltered I guess, but I'll figure the important things out eventually I guess. ^^;

"epitome" is not pronounced "ep-eh-tome (as in, a book)". it's pronounced "eh-pit-oh-mee".

which i thought was a completely different word for the longest time.

timeGrenade

i still can't ride a bike and i didn't learn how to tie my shoes until maybe age 12 lmao

BlueRocketMouse

Nonstop sAME omg I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Another word that used to trip me up was "endeavor". I always said it as "en-dee-ay-vor", I didn't realize it was "en-deh-ver" until much later orz
