I kinda regret giving Daisy eyeless sockets-- even though it's a major part of her character. Because one of the most major aspects of a person's art style is how they draw/color eyes and sometimes they add a little flair to it-- to make it more unique. And I really like seeing that on my characters from commissions, so like when it comes to commissions like this I can't really get one of Daisy TTwTT
I sorta regret having so many braids on Plum-like, I do like the concept of braids, but it appears I cannot draw them worth a darn. TuT
lilacautomatic , i'm maybe weird but i don't feel Ryo's design like a pain to draw 030 ... I mean, i never drew him, but i already drew some hair like that, and it's not really hard ^.^"
It's all for me goodbye * rolls, wanted today to reassures someone about something *
Seiden To be fair, I don't think you necessarily need a justification to make your character look young? I mean lot of people in real life (guys too, me included) look much younger than they are! I think it's more about how you portray and use the characters, I mean there is a difference between the "yeah this character looks like a literal child but is 18 so I can draw porn of them legally" vs "This character is an adult but happens to look young and that's that".
Back to topic: I know I have a lot of regrets a lot of time when it comes to character designs, but as my characters aren't in comics etc I can always go back and change things that bother me! So it's not that much of an issue to me in that way, I think? But one thing I do regret is Lucifer's canine form, because it's so tied to my canons I can't change it anymore. She was originally a normal demon with a human-like body but was so old that after her death she just possessed the first nice body she could find and use, resulting in her canine form. And idk I don't really enjoy canine characters that much and feel like that makes me less interested in working on her? I don't know really.
I used to regret the designs of Claude and Jonathan because they were supposed to be really stereotypical "blond boy and brown haired boy" from the 70s-00s anime and manga, so I intentionally made them look super generic in that aspect? But nowadays I feel like they have started to look more like their own characters as a result of me drawing them literally all the time and getting more used to their individual features and design choices.
How'd I ever miss this thread...
Medieval!Nimue Jakande's tattoos. She had so many of them and they never had an overarching backstory. It was generally agreed by my game masters that the tattoos were made in her adolescence as per the customs of her land, to "call a meaning" upon her or protect her from the evil eye. Speaking of eyes she had yellow-white-and-black tattoos over her eyelids, which I thought would make her creepier. Instead it made her impossible to draw. And she also had random-ass spikes atop her herding cane/whitecane, because I'd just finished watching "Trigun" and had a crush on Legato Bluesummers.
Eyaf Sarangerel as well. She's a small woman with mongolian features (you need to take my word on this one). Despite that she's very pale, with ginger hair and - because I thought it would look cool - dreadlocks. Her formal robes and the aesthetic of her peers come straight from celtic druidism, while her weaponry and casual clothes (as well as general philosophy on life) came more from old slavic shamanism with bits of random asian and african influences thrown in. Just taking undiluted aspects of several very different pagan religions.
Yet she wouldn't feel the same if I took any of these elements away.
I gave this guy a shitty japanese ocean wave tattoo, decided I didn't like it and gave him an even shittier edgy skull tattoo before finally deciding he was just not meant to have a tattoo but now I have some cute art of him pre-tattoo removal and it hurts my soul LAUGHS
And I kinda regret naming alyosha his weird name because originally he was just meant to be a dinky side character but now he is my favorite with his very odd name pfff
