I can't seem to write down her damned backstory. I might give up at this point

I'd love a space where I could talk with others about the characters we're working on as we work on them. So, here's this topic! It should be fun to bounce ideas off each other before things are set in stone. (You could also discuss setting details, probably.)
Right now, I'm playing around with Selda and the other characters in her story/world (they're not uploaded yet, but I'll try and stamp out the details on them soon). The tricky part is figuring out where/how to include and explain the more obscure elements of her setting (WTF is a Leyaloid or a Cross-Ley? uhhhh you might wanna sit down, we could be here for a while if you want all the details). Getting her personality down is also kind of tricky, because I'm not sure how best to describe her. I think I got her right in the blurb, but watch as I RP her and she goes on to act completely different...

This sweet girl! I just won her in an auction over the weekend and shes so perfect. I've been working on developing her all weekend and coming up with headcanons :D
So far shes a very curious thing who likes to explore new wonders!
Expanding on her and the rest of her classmates in 1C (in an Au with another pro hero at the helm for all of their classes and its a we really wanna put you in the hero course but you have severe red flags on your record.)
I'm reworking my Heart of Fire characters; specifically Ember and Val right now!
Ember's thing is that she was jumped by her middle school bullies and the event activated her fire powers, causing a lot of damage that she then fled from, hiding in isolation in the forest for four years. However, I'm trying to play with this timeline a bit- four years by herself as a 12 to 16-year-old, really? Is this realistic for one so young, even if many survival issues aren't a concern (she finds an abandoned cabin to live in, and her fire power lets her stay warm, cook, boil water, hunt animals, etc.)? Also, with the new lore I've written, the god Lythios is able to sense the activation of her power, so what the heck is he up to for those four years? It's kinda a mess and it needs to be worked out. XD
As for Val, I'm mainly working on his art, but also his backstory a bit. He came from a gang in Chicago, so I'm doing research to see if it's legitimate for an 18-year-old to grow up completely integrated in the gang environment, but then be rescued and basically rehabilitated later with the power of home stability, good friends, and the calling to use his power for good.
my main character who i've been working on for at least a year, technically several years if you count his previous iterations.
it shouldn't logically take this long, but between my mountain of commissions i still have to do and my own artistic incompetence, i can't seem to draw a reference image that looks decent. or type up a bio that isn't a total mess.
his species is also unnamed, which is a huge pain. especially when someone asks what his species is. naming characters is hellish enough but naming a fictional species is even worse.
This guy is who I'm working on at the moment. They still need a design for their entire lower body and outfits but I'm going for something cyberpunk/sci-fi smashed with tron lines lol. They're also the character I have that has the least amount of story (zero at all).
Amalya is also a character I'm working on. I've never been really happy with her face tattoos.
