What are your trademark character archetypes?

Posted 6 years, 2 months ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by hedgemaze

This was a conversation my friends and I were having earlier about our characters: everyone has certain character archetypes they're a sucker for-- or maybe ones that they can't help but keep making. What's your poison?

You can interpret this generally: maybe archetypes like "jerks with a heart of gold", personality traits like "smug", storylines like "friends who fall in love", whatever types of characters you love to see or create!

My characters:
a) idiots but they try
b) feelings are hard let's never talk about them
c) conflict resolution is hard let's never talk about it

All my forum games and threads

UndeadRabbit

- looks innocent but is actually deadly

- looks scary but is actually sweet (basically the prev one flipped?)

- shy awkward loner

- mysterious with a dark backstory

- ancient forest creature (or forest creature in general)

IonTheZeraora

mine are probably like

-looks extremely menacing and would brutally murder you
-looks really cute and would also brutally murder you
-seems scary but actually ain't that evil

Lyr

Hmm, I had to think about this a bit but my characters:

- Each represent a mental/emotional part of me

- Fairly relaxed/friendly until worked up

- Either have a sleeping issue, a sap for desserts or both

tartintart

Socially inept people that's either annoying or annoyed. And they all wear some sorts of headgears.

hagalaz

big, buff and tired (Del, Vivien I and II, Goji, Dimitri)

crazy ass (Ramses, Adderan, Esmærga, PSEUDO)

timid dude thats not timid when they're in their zone (Oscar, Nasher)

looks monstrous but they mean well (Damien, Zeür, Devie)

cool dude (Kylo, Redmane, Royce, Vulture)

TristanRose

-men with long hair

-femboys and androgynous men

-cold aloof character who had a sad past and gets healing from some sort of sweetheart

-evil characters who go through development and get better or they have something that just makes them not entirely evil

-flirty himbo x quiet introverted guy. its just a dynamic that totally WORKS for me.

-musicians (I have two fictional bands)

-opposites who either are good friends or lovers.

-fantasy characters like demons, angels, elves, vampires ect.

-parental characters (I have like 5 ocs who are parents and one oc who acts like a father figure towards his little brother since he had to raise him on his own)

Cupcake_Princess

Females who are sweet, kind, and very gentle and innocent, with super adorably cute designs, and are usually extremely shy, socially anxious, and depressed.

travescharic

Ohhh… Not in a lot of my stdories but my favorite ever is like. Opposites??

Example, My ocs Vincent and Stefan, are like. weird best friends in the lore. A lot happens between them and they would never be friends in normal circumstances but they are. They’re kind of playfully mean to each other. But they both know they love each other platonically.  : )

(they also were the first two I made, so interaction was bound to happen)

angies

all my male ocs must be the biggest fucking losers ever

Wysppurr

Men but with/are:

Long hair, kids and no spouse/partner (yet), autism, are slightly pathetic in some way, trauma regarding a dead loved one

:3
