Answer to a question from the user above

Posted 5 years, 11 months ago (Edited 5 years, 8 months ago) by Caine

Similarly to "answer to the question from the oc above", the idea of this game is to answer to something the user above you asks! I was debating whether to name the thread this or "ask a question to the user below" and got a headache trying to decide which one, but really they are the same thing!

This is not an OC game: this is for users to ask things from other users, similarly to "ask a question to the user above you" but in reverse. Hopefully it'll be a fun way to learn more about the users here & get a chance to talk about something you like!

Rules:

  1. Make sure to claim first! This way you'll avoid getting ninjad by someone faster than you
  2. Your answer can be as long or short as you wish to make it to be! Just use the spoiler marker if you end up writing a lot or including lot of images
  3. Wait for at least 3 people to post after you before claiming again! If 12 hours pass, anyone can reply and/or post a new answer
  4. Keep your questions vague enough that people will have something to answer to them!
Don't ask:
  • any super personal questions, like full name or home town
  • questions of morals such as "what would you do if...". While these can be fun, they can really easily get under people's skin and cause stir and drama, and we're here to have a good time and not fight
  • anything that could be considered even vaguely NSFW or sexual in nature
  • idk just keep it civil and not weird or creepy and you'll be fine

If I see someone asking for too personal things or being rude or behaving strangely I'll privately message them to fix their message. Feel free to also DM me if you see strange or rule-breaking behavior!

Question examples:

Here are some things to maybe give ideas to what kind of things to ask! Feel free to use these or do your own thing, as long as it's following the rules

  • INTERESTS: Favourite movie/book/anything? Hobbies? Strange trivia you know?
  • CHARACTERS: Your most expensive character?
  • CREATIVE: Are you more of an artist or a writer? Your creative influences?
  • STORYTIME: Funniest elementary school memory? Has anything strange ever happened to you?

If the thread has been stuck for +12 hours anyone is free to answer and ask a new question!

For the first person posting:

What kind of music do you like?

SOUNDBBABE

I really don't drink anything other than water. So I guess I would have to go with Pog maybe? It's healthy and has a very good taste. I get it every time I go to this Hawaiian bar or if it's in stock at the store. It seems to be popular where I live, so it's sorta hard to get I guess.  It's probably easier to find in other places. As for how long, I guess since i was 7? I honestly don't remember, but it was around my first time visiting Maui.

Do you still listen to old music? Say like music that came out about 5 to 10 years ago, or even more. Do you tend to like the older music more than the present music?

hedgemaze

Haha well, I still listen to music from the '60s, so. Yes.

I like a lot of music from a lot of eras! I wouldn't really say I have a preference.

What's your favorite physical place to be, and why does it mean so much to you? (You don't have to literally tell me where it is, I just mean like, your local park? the library? wherever you feel most at ease)

Caine

I think I have multiple, but my home village's library was definitely one of my favourite places and some sort of "safe place" for me since I knew all the workers and I liked them and they liked me. And when I had really bad time at home I'd come there to read and spend the entire day there basically, and there was this storage area where I also used to read in secret since I'm so small I can fit between the shelves without being seen. It's always been a place of comfort for me and I spent like uuhhh two? summers there in a summer job so I have become extra familiar with the place.

What kind of characters do you usually relate to the most?

yeah i guess i am? i'm kind of a mix of both tbh
i'm really excited for what the future might hold for me (as i plan on moving to the Big City and actually start doing something w/ my life for once one day) but i also know that it's not gonna be all nightclubs, beach walks, and Fun u know? mostly bc i've got anxiety so bad that i can hardly leave my bedroom letalone house, so moving three hours away from home in a Not Rural environment permanently might Fuck Me Over a little bit if that makes sense
granted i know the city or at least the outlying suburbs well bc i've been visiting my dad down there since i was really little so there's two suburbs at least that i know like the back of my hand that i'd be more than comfortable living in, so i'll probably be completely fine bc i know the buses and trains very well too and more populated areas feel more like home to me than the rural area i've been living in my whole life - but i'm a very paranoid person and more people means more creepers and i've already had my fair share of run-ins w/ them growing up (flashback to the time i was about 11 and i went out w/ my group of also very young friends at about 2am unsupervised to pick up pizza for our drunk parents and a group of guys saw us, got in their car, and followed us for ages after pulling up and trying to get us to go to their place 'to drink' and we ended up all jumping into someone's yard and hiding behind the fence until they left us alone) and i guess i'm just worried about being followed or attacked or WHATEVER when living in the city! i've got a lot of irrational fears w/ my future plans but i guess in the long run the positives outweigh the negatives and i feel like moving down there would be the best thing i could ever do

it seems silly but moving to the city and working in a museum i really like are really my only two future plans so far that are really significant, but they're ones i've had for quite some time :0
i probably rambled a bit and that probably doesn't make much sense but i know what i'm trying to say in my head but the words aren't coming out right 😅

pretending for a moment that u can afford expensive animal costs, what kinds of pets (no matter how exotic but be reasonable) would u have and why :0

ninja'd just skip me

RadiantRaindragon

I would rather be a successful writer because I enjoy writing more (plus I think people who have written successful books tend to get more attention than successful artists, but that could be just my perception). I'd love to have written a book series that people really like, and to see people talking about it, discussing the characters, making weird theories, and so on. XD Being a successful artist might help me more financially, though, since I could take more commissions and maybe do professional level work. But I think I'd enjoy being a writer more.

I'm also going to semi-answer the question from the person above:

While I love exotic animals, I wouldn't want one as a pet because most exotic species aren't supposed to live in captivity and wouldn't be happy kept as pets. If we're talking about regular domestic/pet animals though, I'd love a horse (assuming I had a home with fields/stables to keep it in), or my own cat, or maybe a dog (I love greyhounds especially).

Question: What do you enjoy most about making original characters? (Writing backstory, making design, thinking up all the little details, something else?)

Caine

I enjoy imagining scenarios with them! Them being in action inside my head is the best part for me because I get to go through all these actions and scenes and conversations and it's always super existing for me!! Because I'm the type of person who isn't super good at planning and improvises everything, so even to me when I start working on their interaction I don't know what will happen next! It's like watching soap opera but free and you don't even need a tv

Q: Have you ever visited a museum or an art gallery (or something similar)?

gummy

Yep! I was in New York City a few months ago, and I visited MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) and the Museum of Natural History too. Ofc ive visited other museums and art galleries and stuff, but those were where I most recently visited.

If you could be one of your ocs, which OC would you be?

Tsuko celestiials

Oof, a very tough choice rip- most of my characters have bad or downright traumatic stories so it severely narrows down the pool. I can’t say Isabella since she already is me lmao so. But anyways I think I’d pick to be either Tsuko or Vega since they’re both cool peeps with cool powers

What’s your opinion on classical music? C’mon, I can’t be the only fan of it here lmao. (I’d be cool if you did dislike it though)

Probably too specific so do you prefer to focus on the writing or art/design aspect of characters more?

starfast

More the writing aspect since that's why I created them for to begin with. I am sort of trying to get better at designing characters though, and making their designs more interesting. Still, I like to keep it simple because I like being able to draw my characters. But having an interesting backstory and fleshed out personality is the priority.

And for classical music, I actually don't really mind it. I sometimes listen to certain songs while I draw or write.

If you had $10,000 (or whatever the equivalent to that is in your country) but weren't allowed to spend it on yourself how would you spend it?

circlejourney

I was actually just discussing a very similar question with someone else last week. My immediate response is that I'd pay for my American friends' medical bills. Whenever I fantasise about being rich, that always seems to be the first thing I think of doing because the American medical system is some sort of purgatory on earth.

How do you hold your pencil/pen/etc? This can be hard to describe in words, so feel free to include a sketch or a photo! I only recently realised that my way of holding it isn't how most people do.

PicklePantry

It's actually strange for me! I learned the wrong way and, well, my teachers never corrected me in kindergarten LOL but I hold my hand like a fist? Then have the pencil tight between my thumb and the middle segment of my index finger. Makes drawing difficult because the rest of my hand will be rubbing against the rest of the page.

Do you think your OCs changed your views on something?

Hogarth

OH definitely lmao, as i was writing my character hugo and his complete loyalty and love of humans, i was in that phase of "oooooo humans bad rah rah rahhhh" but as i wrote more and more i found myself loving people more than ever c:

What's your favorite movie/book/show? I love the Iron Giant more than life itself eyyy
