Information on Nero, Nicholas and Zer!

Nero's backstory was the first I wanted to work on but holy crap I got nowhere with it fast. X_x;.. So excerpts only! Nicholas's backstory. Originally written in like 2018, one part a night. Some nights more parts. I don't remember. It's been years. :P And Zer Oshay's backstory. This one was written shortly after Nicholas's backstory, but I never kinda got anywhere with it.

But also some world info! :)

Nicholas Kestrel - Ch 1: Page 8

The end of this supposed robbery was more than welcome to Nicholas. He had positioned himself against the bar while the security lady was gathering the gunmen's weapons.

So this all did have multiple goals. The casino WAS actually robbed, but they still wanted to also use the situation to get rid of people. Nicholas looked at the corpses in the area.

There were definitely innocent people there, but he imagined there were also a lot of undesirable people, at least as far as the cartel was involved. After all, that was his position too.

But things still didn't make sense to him. Why get him in this situation when he was younger? Did he rip off someone important by accident? It seemed strange to undertake this to get rid of a kid.

And honestly, he was in their hands for days, one bullet and an unmarked grave would've gotten rid of him. Why go through all this effort? Was it a message or something?

And what bothered him most.. The police were almost here. There was no escape vehicle for the gunmen. How would they have gotten away? Just like the lady said then, they were just as disposable as the people they meant to kill.

But.. The man outside.. He survived last time. So how did he get away? There had to be another accomplice of some so..

Nicholas's eyes shot wide open. He stood up and.. A gunshot rang out. And then another. Multiple shots, interrupted only by screams of pain that soon also became silent.

As for Nicholas, he had dove behind another casino machine as the first shot rang out. He heard the woman curse as he was out of her sight now.

Of. Course. That's how the woman survived this long. The gunmen were set up to fall anyway. That's why the pistol she held was similar to what the man had outside. So the shots would've seemed from heroic guards.

A perfect solution to leave no witnesses. Nicholas cursed himself mentally. He had a chance to ruin their plan, but instead he helped it. He was cornered now. Before, he assumed the woman would have helped him get through trouble with the police.

Now, it was obvious the police were also his problems. He had to get out of there before they arrived. But this woman was in the way. With him unarmed and her considerably better trained than the gunmen, this situation was worse than the last.

It hit him now she even mentioned the cartel at the end her last speech. He was meant to be observant, for crying out loud. Well, lesson for the future, if he survived this.

Still, she had a pistol. The rifles were in a pile on the ground. He was one good distraction away from getting out of there. But what? Another chip? They were strewn about the place enough, but she saw him trying it last, didn't she?

“Ugh.. Fuck.. I think Kestrel got away. He punched me in the jaw." Oh shit, the guy was back up.

"No, he's here, hiding somewhere. You get dressed before the cops arrive, here's your pistol back." Nicholas took those words as a sign she was distracted by the other man, handing him his gun back.

He sprinted outside with all he got, realizing how dumb this was as shots hit the floor left and right of him, but once he turned a corner outside, he was out of their range.

Didn't stop him from running further though. He had to get out of there. He was in over his head once again, but at least he survived.

...With winnings and an utter lack of bullet wounds, so definitely a better ending than last time.
