Information on Nero, Nicholas and Zer!

Nero's backstory was the first I wanted to work on but holy crap I got nowhere with it fast. X_x;.. So excerpts only! Nicholas's backstory. Originally written in like 2018, one part a night. Some nights more parts. I don't remember. It's been years. :P And Zer Oshay's backstory. This one was written shortly after Nicholas's backstory, but I never kinda got anywhere with it.

But also some world info! :)

Nicholas Kestrel - Ch 1: Page 4

So the planning was made that the robbery would happen in a few days. They wanted to pre-empt the money truck, which frankly would only pick up cash, not necessarily deliver any.

It seemed rather typical. Of course, for Nicholas, this meant days of being kept under watchful eye, accompanied by a wide variety of firearms. And as he was kept out of the loop, he didn't even know how long he was meant to stay there.

Dinner seemed to be cheap pizza. Breakfast was leftovers. Lunch.. Well, that depended on how much he left at breakfast. It wasn't exactly the kind of meal Nicholas would buy for himself, at least not multiple days in a row.

He was given a deck of cards to practice with, but with nobody willing to participate in a game or a card trick, practice fell flat as soon as it began. There was also a roulette table, apparently an identical model as the casino.. But it wasn't like that was gonna help him be better.

If there was one game Nicholas didn't like, it was roulette. Too much left to chance.. And the chance was rigged out of his favor. People are much more interesting. Even a dealer has tells, flaws..

If they wanted Nicholas to practice, then this was not the way. If anything, it was a way to pass time, but after the hundredth game of Patience, Nicholas's own patience eventually ran out.

Even if there were no less than three other people in the room, he had no interaction with them. Every time he tried their answer was shouting at him to be quiet and raising their weapons.

It seemed that they feared Nicholas's speech craft more than they feared him physically trying something. Nicholas had a few plans to escape, but..

No. It seemed like a better idea to wait things out for now. He would have his chance at the casino. And so, Nicholas bided his time, until the day arrived that they would rob a casino.
