Information on Nero, Nicholas and Zer!

Nero's backstory was the first I wanted to work on but holy crap I got nowhere with it fast. X_x;.. So excerpts only! Nicholas's backstory. Originally written in like 2018, one part a night. Some nights more parts. I don't remember. It's been years. :P And Zer Oshay's backstory. This one was written shortly after Nicholas's backstory, but I never kinda got anywhere with it.

But also some world info! :)

Nicholas Kestrel - Ch 2: Page 2

As if to prove he had learned nothing from past events, Nicholas found himself at several poker tables. There were suckers everywhere, willing to part with their money, as long as you don't show you're cheating. Nicholas has elevated playing poker to an art, however.. Or so he would like to think.

Rather than cheating, Nicholas believes he is simply that good.. And he might be. Whether he has a good hand or a bad one, he doesn't really let anyone notice. He did discover his tail sometimes gave him away, but.. Well, he wasn't the only one with a tail.

Eventually, casino's and even bars wised up and added 'tail bags' to seats. A silly concept, but it was a logical step. A few of the best poker players in the world had become Animaloids, so it was bound to happen.

Nicholas found his world was.. Adjusting. Everywhere, people were getting a hang of being Animaloids. Special passports, new regulations.. All to make Animaloids capable of living among humans.

And yet. It seemed to be aimed at normalcy. It made everything seem.. Normal. As if nothing changed. Perhaps it hadn't.

Knocking on his door woke Nicholas up. It was the middle of the night.. Who the hell.. His eyes snapped open. The cartel? No, they wouldn't knock, would they..? Rather than open the door, Nicholas prepared to run. He held his gun in his hand.. Unloaded as ever, but a great deterrent.

"Mr. Kestrel? It's the police, we only have some questions for you.." Nicholas looked at the door. The.. Police? What he was doing may not have entirely been legal, but it would seem strange for any of his victims to call the cops, since they too were gambling..

"..What is this about?" He asked, still not close to the door. It could be a trap.

"It's about your role in the casino robbery last month." SHIT. If the cops think he was involved in that mess, he's screwed! This was the moment Nicholas opted to open the window and.. "We have several witnesses claiming that you disarmed a gun man and that you have saved their lives."

Wait, what?
