JELLO EVERYJEL! Physics has always been a field of study I found extremely fascinating, so I'm super excited to present this batch of adopts themed after it!

We've got 16 adopts in the main batch -- 8 crossbreeds and 8 regular jellies -- along with an additional raffle! Quite a bit bigger than our last release. With how expansive physics is as a field, there's quite a variety of designs here... a little bit for all sorts of tastes!

SECRET FILES RELEASED: UNDERTOW LOYALTY RETAINERS

New content, huzzah!

It looks like Virgil was hard at work breaching into databases he has no business poking around in... anyway, looks like we've got some new content to dig into. And yes, this also means I've fleshed out the Undertow more, and you can now add your Jelveils to it! This new lore update comes with a nice description of the technology the Undertow uses to keep its Jelveil employees doing what it wants them to do, and a visual diagram to aid with your art.

In any case, a direct link to the file is below... but it doesn't look like Virgil has figured out how to actually find where the files are usually accessed (aside from the direct link I provided below). It's hidden somewhere in the World!

There's some other stuff he'll be working to uncover/I'll be working to make, so keep an eye out for all that someday...

LITTLE MISCELLANEOUS UPDATES

Ain't much I have to say here, just that the free turn-in event is now closed. Thanks so much to everyone that turned in a design; they were all wonderful to see!

Also, I've handed out all the rewards for the Trivia Night mini-event that happened a while ago! Sorry that took me so long, but it's done now. Check the bank spreadsheet to see what balance you have now!

Also also, having adopts announced by bulletin whenever they get made was the most popular option from our last bulletin asking you how you'd like for adopts to be announced. We'll be doing that from now on!

CLOSING REMARKS-- HIATUS NOTICE

I'm officially and completely done with college applications and I totally kicked my finals in the butt. I've ended my semester on a fairly high note and I'm satisfied with my accomplishments... but I'm REALLY DARN TIRED.

The time and energy that goes into managing this species and creating new content for it is a lot more taxing than people think. Mentally, I'm not doing so hot, to put it lightly. For the sake of my own well-being, I'm going to be taking a break.

This'll mean that I'll be taking my foot off the pedal for all of the administrative stuff (advertising adopts, approving designs, managing the shop, etc), at least for the month or so. I'm still going to hang around the community and all that, and I'll be coming back, of course! It'll just... take me a while.

In my absence, our awesome and cool moderation team will be filling in for that role. I'll be sorting stuff out with them behind the scenes and all that, but for this month at least, do expect some delays for shop purchases and all that jazz since it's usually me handling it.

In terms of all the creative stuff, I'll be working on it on-and-off whenever I feel inspired to continue. DON'T expect anything to come out of me for now, and don't expect anyone to fill in for me either. I'm a one-man-army handling the content creation for the species, and I plan to have it stay that way. 

I do have new stuff planned, including the corrosion traits I mentioned in the past and a brand-new species that'll be a part of the Jellyverse, but I can't give you an estimate on when they'll be out. I'll work on them when I do.

I plan to return around early March, when I make the newsletter bulletin.

I'm going to be clearing out my commissions, as well as working on a personal project (that I'd appreciate if you checked out, thanks in advance!) as I just take the month off to relax and such and focus on just getting some rest.

QUESTION TIME!

How would you want adopts to be advertised in this World?

I originally didn’t plan on doing this, as I figured some people wouldn’t appreciate the spam, but considering how only a portion of people are in the Discord server (where adopts are actually advertised by me), and an even smaller number of people with the ping active, not a lot of people see the species adopts. 

To be fairer to the artists and let more people know there’s even something going on, I figured it might be worth to start advertising here on TH too (as a lot of other species do, I’ve noticed.)

Adopts can be pretty sporadic and they’re released… whenever our GAs decide to release them, but to give more structure and rhythm, I’ll give a few options. Not advertising at all isn’t one, sorry ;)

1. ONLY advertise at the end of maintenance/newsletter bulletins.

Simple, I’ll just tack on whatever adopts are still open to the end of a newsletter or maintenance bulletin. Like sponsored promotion at the end of a brochure, hah.

2. Advertise ONCE A WEEK (if there are open adopts that week)

At the end of each week (Saturday/Sunday) I’ll compile all the currently open adopts and I’ll throw them on a bulletin. Usually this won’t be attached to any maintenance or anything, but they may end up coinciding… unlikely, but I guess it could happen.

3. Advertise whenever the adopts decide to exist.

No set schedule or anything, whenever there’s a new adopt, there’s a new bulletin.

4. ONLY advertise PAID adopts at the end of maintenance/newsletter bulletins, free adopts are advertised whenever they’re posted.

Like option 1, except raffles and other freebies will be posted whenever they decide to exist and may occupy bulletins all to themselves.

Don’t worry, the formatting won’t stay this ugly forever. I’ll make the ads look nice!

SALE DAYS: MORE INFO + POLL

Looks like the "buy-one-get-one" sale offer beat the "half-off discount" by a very shocking 4 votes.

Here's the idea: buying a rare MYO gives you an uncommon for free, buying an uncommon MYO gives you a common for free, and buying a common MYO gives you a Veilthing for free. (Of course, if you buy an uncommon or rare MYO and prefer the Veilthing, you can ask for that, of course.)

The sale period will also be set to begin on a certain day of the month and end on another. For these sale periods I'll make it required to have me confirm before you pay, just in case you happen to miss the window and don't want to get what you didn't pay for. I'm currently thinking to have them start from the 20th to the 25th of every month.

Now here's the question: when sale days open, should I announce them with bulletins here?

I'll be announcing them in the Discord server for sure (I announce everything there, I once announced that we had washrooms) but I'm wondering whether I should make the notification here on the World as well. It'll only be one extra notification per month, but thought I'd check in anyhow. Please vote on what option you'd like on the poll!

TRAIT SHEET UPDATE + WRITTEN GUIDE

The changes aren't super major, but I felt like they were warranted nonetheless. The display is now tabbed instead of being a long annoying thing you have to scroll through, and the sheets have been reworded to convey their meanings better (I noticed there was a lot of confusion on the "natural organic" traits especially, which I've-- hopefully-- now clarified). I've also done away with the transparency on the pages, which will hopefully be a little nicer on your eyes and your internet bandwidth.

Also, I've made a written trait guide! This is for the people who prefer text-based information as opposed to the visuals.

I still need to work on updating all the links to go to this new sheet, but that'll come. For now, enjoy what I have below!

TRAIT REMOVAL + NEW TRAIT

If you're checking out the new trait sheets, you might've noticed that we've done away with the "liquid hair" trait.

It's a pretty simple reason: tentacles can be put on the head to resemble hair, and the "liquid hair" trait was essentially just water tentacles on the head, posing as hair. It didn't really make sense to me to have it as a separate trait. 

If you still want watery aspects in your Jelveil's hair, it's still possible! You just get that done with water tentacles on the head instead. I don't remember any MYO jellies having the liquid hair trait, but if yours did, just make the note to yourself that it's just water tentacles now.

I've made a new rare add-on trait to make up for this one being removed: tethered limbs! Essentially it's just the tethered neck trait, but on the limbs. Yaaaay!

TRAIT UPGRADE CONSUMPTION CHANGE (!!!)

Lots of stuff about traits today, wow. This is just a little something that'll make administration easier on our end and designing easier on yours.

It used to be that having multiple different types of traits in a single trait category would each consume a trait upgrade. For example, if you have a common ticket, having both a plastic (UC) and slime (R) veil would've consumed both an uncommon and a rare upgrade. This has now been changed! 

From now on, if you'd like to have different types of tentacles, different veil materials, pit fillings, et cetera, outside of the rarity of the ticket, it'll only consume one upgrade for each trait category-- of whichever trait has the highest rarity. Going back to the plastic (UC) and slime (R) veil example, from now on, it'll consume only one rare upgrade.

And yes, this means you can have as many different tentacles or veil materials or pit fillings as you like without needing a upgrade for each and every one.

I'm not sure why I ever had it the other way in the first place. It just made life harder for everyone.

DO NOTE that this doesn't apply to the "not solid nor liquid veil/tentacles" mutation trait, as mutations aren't really a rarity class on their own. So, if you'd like a plastic (UC) and smoke (M) veil, you'll need both an uncommon and mutation upgrade. Sorry about that.

DO ALSO NOTE that this change ONLY applies to traits within a SINGLE category. For example, if you want a slime (R) veil and slime (R) tentacles, you'll still need two rare upgrades, one for each, due to veils and tentacles being different trait categories.

If you'd like to be compensated for this change, I'll attach a form at the end of the bulletin that you can fill out and that I'll give you Scyphcoin for.

This maintenance bulletin was even longer than some of our News Moments, wow. Winter break just started for me and I've been on Turbo Mode ever since.

It's my birthday tomorrow! I'm getting so old. For my birthday, I got... rejected by MIT. My dad says it's their loss, though. Anyway, happy birthday to Lucas Kirchhoff! You are all free to celebrate with me.

In any case, I've begun working on more lore, namely Undertow stuff, which means YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ADD YOUR JELLIES INTO THE UNDERTOW! I'll try to do more cool things with the factions of the world, but for today's announcement, I just figured I'd get all the administrative stuff like trait changes and all that out of the way first. Hope you're as excited about it as I am!

TRAIT UPGRADE COMPENSATION

Here's the compensation I mentioned earlier. Please use it ONLY if you have spent multiple trait upgrades on a trait category. ONLY MYO JELVEILS WILL BE COMPENSATED-- you didn't spend any upgrades by buying adopts!

The way I reworked the trait upgrade system is that for one category, you'll now only need to spend one upgrade of the highest rarity of the traits you're using, to give yourself multiple traits higher than the ticket rarity. So, you'll be compensated with Scyphcoin for each upgrade you spent on your Jelveil that is now unnecessary.

Confused? Imagine this: you spent 1 uncommon and 3 rare upgrades to give your Jelveil made with a common ticket the following: 

• Vine tentacles (UC)
• Ribbon tentacles (R)
• Chain tentacles (R)
• Ice cream veil (R)

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO MUTATIONS: IF YOU SPENT ONE MUTATION AND ONE UNCOMMON OR RARE UPGRADE ON A TRAIT CATEGORY, NO COMPENSATION IS REQUIRED.

Didn't understand a word I just said? No worries-- you don't need to. I'm just explaining the numbers behind the reimbursement, but the form itself is simple to fill!

Do you agree with my dad?

It's been a week since I lost my little guy, so I figured I owed you an update in that regard.

You might've seen me waking up again in the Discord server and chatting with members here and there. It's still taking me time, but I'd say I've been taking the situation surprisingly well. Obviously I'm still upset, but not to the point where it gets in the way of interacting or working.

I'm sorry again with how slow things have been here, with the first two rounds of college applications eating my time from September to the start of December, and the first third of December lost to the unexpected tragedy, but from now on-- until I have to start again on applications (I'm sorry)-- it should be business as usual. Expect to see a lot more content popping up, especially around winter break, unless something else happens that's out of my control. Seeing from the Harmony story I finished yesterday (read it if you haven't by the way, I think it's good) I still got it. Heh.

COMMUNITY VOTE: MYO SALES

Now here's where I need your help (again!) (and yes I'm reusing the image from November)

It's no secret that in terms of MYO sales, we're... not selling too well. Of course, there's plenty of free ways to get yourself a jelly (and that's good!), but I'd like to help support ocean charities more-- what I made the Jelveils to do!

Of course, I won't be raising prices or start limiting sales or anything (it goes against my PHILOSOPHY!!!), but I've got an idea: periods of time not unlike traditional MYO sales you see in other CS, but instead of opening sales, we'll just sweeten the deal. Right now, the ideas are:

1. For a few days, prices are discounted! I'm thinking around half-off, but this is subject to change.
2. For a few days, buying a ticket gets you another ticket (of a lower rarity) for free!

For the sake of me and the mods we are not going to do both.

Of course, these will be monthly recurring sales, and they won't be limited by quantity (eg. only the first 5 buyers get the special deal). Nothing on the table will make getting a ticket harder! Heck, it'll make getting a ticket even easier... at what cost? Up to you to decide.

Avyrie's favourite bakery just opened a new location... and it's a convenient distance from where you are! Wondering why it's the VP's favourite? Well, just inspect the quality of the donuts and see for yourself!

The donuts were from a Jelcord event that lasted a few days where people submitted donuts for some currency rewards, but I'm opening it up here too-- if you'd like to see your baked good on display, you have until DECEMBER 6th 11:59 PST to draw a donut and submit it for a choice of 10 Scyphcoin or 5 bottle caps. Yes, this goes for our Jelcord bakers too-- go ahead and submit more donuts! And yes, you can model them after your jellies and you can submit multiple donuts.

CLOSING REMARKS

I just got done yet another round of college applications... hopefully I can hear some good news from like MIT or something and not have to go through the process again, but the most realistic outcome is that I'll have to do yet another application. For now, though, I've got winter break coming up and hopefully I can take it easy and just relax for some time. At the very least I think I'll be able to get my birthday off.

In any case, I might end up taking yet another break and slow the content a little, but for now I should be more active. But hey, I promise you: there will be NO MORE COLLEGE APPLICATIONS from January... like 12 onward. FREEDOM!

I still have classes like AP Calc and Phys C to deal with though but hopefully Semester 2 is easier. Just kidding! It has English Studies 12 🤮 this is just a joke but i am hilariously bad at humanities courses

In any case, though, my grades won't matter as much so I'll be getting back to more jellying once all that's over.
