StoneClan split after the disaster, but some of its descendants still inhabit the land.

"It's a tough life, and you have to be tough to live it."

The Cats of the Valley

StoneClan territory is radically changed from the days of Lightningstar and Steadystar. What was once a rocky swath of hickory and poplar now holds a dense, uniform Twoleg development. The outlying meadows have become overgrown with weedy plants, and the surrounding fields, once unimaginably off-limits, hold some of the only sources of prey. A handful of families directly descended from StoneClan's last warriors still live in and around the area, but the region's population is mostly fresh faces hoping to lay claim to open territory.

The rogues of The Stones claim the fierce warrior legacy of Old StoneClan, but street life is tough and the tipped cats who are captured by Twoleg return changed--if they return at all. Old StoneClan's other members scattered to the winds after The Shattering, but some of their descendants still remain in isolated groups throughout the territory. The region's barn cats, once isolated yet affable loners, have found themselves in the middle of the old forest's exodus; their grandparents' generosity was once widely known, but they are increasingly unable to support the influx of hunters on their land. Recent Twoleg development has brought a wave of curious young kittypets eager to play with the legendary cats of the wild, and still other cultures have yet to encounter the formerly closed StoneClan borders.

New StoneClan Warriors

Modern StoneClan is a small group made up of a hodge-podge of former clan cats, kittypets, and loners seeking to carve out a better life for themselves and their kin. Always wary of their predecessors' downfall, StoneClan cats are fiercely family-oriented and adventurous. StoneClan makes use of its extensive territory and diverse members to make a living off the ravaged earth the Twolegs left behind.

Notable Members

Celeryseed is StoneClan's prophecied future leader and its emotional heart. Never satisfied to let things lie, Celeryseed's inquisitive nature brings her clanmates' troubles into the light where they can work them out together.

Cherviltail is StoneClan's absentminded herbalist. Part hunter, part medicine cat, she defies clan tradition but desperately wishes that the line of medicine cat secrets had not been severed.

Trivia

  • StoneClan apprentices are trained as a group in the way of warrior life, clan culture, hunting, and herblore before choosing a path and being assigned a permanent mentor.

Former StoneClan Warriors

Very few living cats remember the StoneClan's last days. The ones who are left try desperately to preserve the Warrior Code and its traditions for the next generation.

Notable Members

Charlie, formerly Charredbranch, was exiled as a young warrior after the death of the clan's last medicine cat. She wandered alone for a very long time but has since settled in a derelict barn north of Barren Place. She very well may be the last living cat to have experienced Old StoneClan in its prime.

Thrushfur was born to StoneClan parents soon after the destruction of StoneClan camp. She now resides in a nearby barn where her parents sheltered for her birth.

Steadystar was the previous leader of StoneClan. Unsatisfied with his clan's demise, he walks his former territory ad a ghost and haunts any cat who slighted him.

Trivia

  • Many loners who claim StoneClan ancestry are descended from the cats who scattered, but just as many are not.

The Stones

Founded by a group of former StoneClan warriors led by a tom named Rubblestomp, The Stones are a loosely-knit gang of rogues who control the streets of New Twolegplace. While they are fierce and highly territorial, they are not evil; their number one priority is ensuring that nobody starves on their turf, whatever it takes. While rumors abound about Stones eating their kits and abandoning their elders to die, the group does care for their weak in their own way. Expectant mothers, elders, and the injured are led to the Twolegs for sanctuary and care, and those wily cats who return "home" again are celebrated as heroes. In reality, The Stones scare kittypets back to their warm nests and turn loners away from their borders out of necessity, and their current leader Granite is the kingpin behind it all.

Notable Members

Rubblestomp, formerly the deputy of Old StoneClan, founded The Stones with a group of the clan's strongest warriors to hold their old territory against potential invaders. The group eked out a living in the Twoleg-ridden wasteland that would become New Twolegplace, but Rubblestomp and his group never managed to return StoneClan to its former glory.

Granite is the current boss of The Stones. A spayed transgender tom born among the Twolegs, Granite is a member of one of The Stones' most revered groups. His tipped ear signals his almost supernatural health and good luck, but the comfortable life he's made for himself and his group is no coincidence.

Delilah is a former member of The Stones who broke off her association with them when she chose to leave Twolegplace in order to keep her future kits out of the reach of Twolegs.

Trivia

  • The Stones' leadership holds form that they are the rightful heirs of Old StoneClan and its territory, despite the fact that almost all of them are descended from rogues or loners.

Barn Cats

The cats who life in the barns and farmhouses dotting the outer fields keep to themselves. Proud of their roles as mousers and livestock-watchers, they have little interest in clan cats. However, they know who to turn to when one of their young gets an itch for adventure in their paws.

Notable Members

Mouser Mack is the oldest of the three barn cat brothers who live near StoneClan territory.

Johnny Jupiter was the best mouser this side of the Blue Ridge. Two of his three sons from three different litters now follow in his footsteps.

Tommy Head-in-the-Clouds (formerly) is the third son. Never interested in mousing, he found his calling when voices from the stars led him to the nascent StoneClan.

Notable Members

Billi & Gilly are best friends and love to watch street cats from the safety of their neighboring apartment windows.

Slate used to be one of those street cats. Formerly a senior member of The Stones, Slate was captured by Twolegs and brought into a much cozier, more stable life.

Wandering Loners

A group without a formal name or membership, the cats sometimes known as "Comets" are a loose family of loners who continually travel on an annual pilgrimage from their birthplace to the blue mountains and back. Comets spend much of their time on their own, preferring space from their littermates, half-siblings, and dozens of distant cousins. A Comet's journey is the same each year, and each cat will leave their own unique markers to chart their course and signal their passing to their kin. Comets may take stationary mates or even settle in an area for seasons at a time, but they will always have the love of the road in their bones.

Notable Members

Sneezepuff and Doeblaze are loner siblings who were born in Thrushfur's barn and raised there until they were old enough to travel with their mother. Now grown, they always make a point to visit Thrushfur when they're in the area.

Wandering Paws is an old loner who was once chosen to rebuild StoneClan before Celeryseed was born. He abandoned his destiny, but he still journeys through the valley.

Trivia

  • It is said that the ancestral matriarch of the Comets lives high up in the mountains and that when they grow old, wanderers reverse their path and journey over the other side of the mountains, never to be seen again.
