the ruthless leader of an aquatic mob with its base in rotterdam. the mob specializes in merfolk smuggling, by leading folks into a debt they can’t possibly repay in exchange for a quick and convenient access to life on land. those who eventually cannot pay their debt, will be dragged back to the ocean, or worse. in any case, it’s a spotless crime, as the people he smuggles are out of the public eye long before anyone can catch on to their dubious legal status.
giuliano has always been in some form of trouble. in truth, he was once someone to be smuggled on land. to get rid of the nearly indestructible man, he was tossed to the explosives. what they didn’t know, was that in the meantime, giuliano had built up enough connections to fix himself right up. one crushed skull later, giuliano had effectively usurped the mob, and none even dares raise a finger against him.
once, his cause may have been noble. once. he detests the mollusc kingdom, and their pandering, patronozing, and tedious ways of allowing ocean peoples their access to land. he soon realized the dangers of smuggling merfolk on land, and realized it may have been more trouble than it was worth, in his eyes. gradually, his once genuine outlook turned to corruption and greed. he could just make so much money out of all this, and nobody’s even going to be able to trace where he got all that cash from. and hey, a deal’s a deal. if somebody he smuggled does by some miracle pay back their debt, they’re free to go.
better start praying, though. you’re really gonna need that miracle.
