TW: Mention of r@pe and implied physical and emotional abuse.

Name: Cainen

Class: Abjurer

Race: ½  elf, ½  human (but INSISTS he’s 100% human)

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Role: Mylancia’s secret weapon in the war, abjuration magic so powerful it can fully suppress the magic of multiple targets at once, not just individual spells.  This total dispellation often causes the target to pass out.  The downside of this is that he literally can’t use any other spell, not even spells within his own class, so if you were to run up to him with a knife, nothing he could do could stop you.  He’s only useful against other magic users.

His mother was impregnated by an elf who used his magic to prevent her from fighting back, so when Cainen was born, his mother was glad to see that he did not look at all like an elf.  However when he first started presenting an ability for magic, it nearly broke her.  Knowing his mother’s trauma, and of the oppression that no-mages generally face in the world, Cainen started practicing abjuration magic with the goal to one day be able to despell entire armies.  After dedicating nearly his entire life to this goal, it eventually paid off, and his magic is now entirely unique to him, though it is highly specialized, and not at all versatile.  He now works for the Mylancian government, mainly as a means to detain violent prisoners, as he is too valuable to be used recklessly out in the field just yet, but he hopes to one day be the one to calm the raging war and bring peace to the country.  He met Wren while Cainen was still just a recruit (Wren had joined a year and a half prior).  At this time, Cainen was a bit unintentionally patronizing towards no-mages, believing them to be inherently weaker than magic-users simply due to that philosophy being drilled into him constantly by his mother.  Because of this, when Cainen first met Wren, a no-mage, despite Wren being his superior, Cainen initially looked down on him and underestimated his strength.  However, it wasn’t long before Wren showed Cainen how powerful no-mages could be, and Cainen’s mind was opened to how distastefully he had been acting for the sake of his ideology.  However, Wren didn’t hold a grudge, and the two actually ended up becoming quick friends; working side-by-side for years as they climbed the ranks of the Mylancian military.  Nowadays, they are still working together, though due to Wren’s more versatile skill set, he tends to get more action out in the field than Cainen does.

They are also head-over-heels for each other, but that’s hush-hush information.
