Ghosts are rare on Alfheim, as most souls are taken by Hel immediately after death. But being demigods, the alfar are capable of splitting their souls and leaving pieces of themselves behind. Like the draugar, ghosts are commonly found in crypts and tombs. They are most frequently left behind to protect these territories. The circumstances of their deaths and purpose for being left behind result in a few variations of ghosts, such as the Útburður.
