The Wheel of Seasons turn, and in the middle of autumn, preparations for winter are in full swing. Everything harvested needs to be stored, preserved, prepared; pickled, cured, salted, dried. Foods to last the winter and the lean beginnings of spring.

When all is done, the Harvest Masquerade beckons around the corner: cheerful festivities after a successful harvest season.

Another cause for celebration is the fact that the Wasting Miasma is finally dead, and the town of Mead is slowly beginning to recoup and recover.

💫 new legendary character: keita archijd

Another Legendary Character is here! Keita Archijd, a much-debated Order scholar, has entered the pages of Anathema's history books. The Ivras timeline has been updated with the following:

Year 1234: In the months after the events of Hagia's corruption, there is division within the Order. Hagia's chosen few, who are researching corruption-related events and effects, disband; among them is the researcher Keita Archijd. Keita continues their research and publishes The Corruption Echo Theory in secret. It is received with divisive interest across the continent, but the majority view Keita's findings and knowledge as deeply dangerous. The Order, by a majority, decide that Keita is to be cast out and banished from Namarast. It is approved and enforced by Archon Miriam.

Legendary characters like Keita are created by purchasing a Tattered Banner at the Ley Lodge!

📯 great hunt: the wasting miasma

The Wasting Miasma has finally been defeated!

The great skeleton has fallen, its remains crowning a hill just south of Mead; the fog surrounding it has slowly lifted, dissipating on the breeze. Those who were still in the clutches of its treacherous dream magic have begun to wake, disoriented and weak, but most of them still alive.

A few small eyeballs still litter the ground in and around Mead, but most seem to have disappeared. In its wake, the Miasma has left Mead mostly intact, save for some damage from panicked crowds; a bigger problem is that its inhabitants are left unprepared for winter, with food stores spoiled, harvests left rotting in the fields, and dispirited townsfolk.

Mage reputation has gone down, but the general opinion of the Order has also taken a hit. Most people now view Wild Mages with unkind eyes, but there have also been voices raised against the Order and their seemingly ineffective presence during the attack.

Rumours are spreading that the slayer of the beast is a Wild mage—but a heinous criminal, wanted by the law.

📚 ongoing: lore drive!!

To celebrate the endless possibilities of stories and tales, we are holding another LORE DRIVE!

Anathema is at its core a collaborative world, so we're asking you: What stories do you think are told during the dark evenings of Autumn? What traditions have cropped up in Ivras over time, and where do they come from? At the end of the Lore Drive, members will vote for the top three submissions, and winners will get a Ley Token!

Autumn is for legends, tales, and stories around the campfire, and there are a few tales that always come up when the light dims and the temperatures fall. One of them is the nebulous tale of The Thief and The Blind.

A note on communication
Roleplay and collaborations are great fun, and clear communication and respect for each others’ boundaries and wishes make it even more so. Always make sure you and your writing partner(s) are comfortable, especially if roleplays touch upon such things as violence, trauma, and darker themes in general. If in doubt, always ask about each others’ preferences!
