Ask 5 Questions to the Above Person's OC!

Posted 6 years, 11 months ago (Edited 6 years, 10 months ago) by isopods

I've seen a couple of threads where people can ask OCs questions.  However, I thought it might be interesting if those questions covered more of the character's development without having to post multiple times to receive multiple questions.

Rules and Guidelines

  1. Please comment in-character.  The character you post as will be the next character to be asked five questions.
  2. Once your character is asked the questions from the next poster, please edit your initial comment to answer the questions.
  3. Please ask questions that contribute, at least somewhat, to the character's development.
  4. Please read the character's profile and the person's profile before asking any questions.

1. What happened in his childhood that made him forget everything that happened back then (he repressed trauma of what)?

2. How did he feel about the shinobi clan while he still lived with them?

3. Why did someone frame him for killing someone in the clan?

4. How and where did he get his mask from?

5. How and where did he get his prosthetic from? (also, did he cut of his arm immediately after leaving the clan, or did he cut his arm sometime after?)

(I'll edit this post if I somehow missed the answer to these questions on his profile.)

1. How old was she when Asu was executed? Do the history books mention this?

She (and Asu) was 14 years old when Asu was executed. The history books mention that she was executed at 14 years old.

2. How did she become a goddess? Did her reputation interfere?

Being a goddess in their world is basically a part of afterlife. Like, you become a spirit after dying, then you become an angel, then a star, then a god/goddess. Whatever kind of angel/star/goddess you become depends on what you did while you alive, so in Una's case, she became the goddess of the moon and the stars because one of her only hobbies is stargazing with Asu. Her reputation didn't really interfere, mainly because the gods and goddesses could actually saw what was happening, and they felt really sorry for the twins, so some of them tried to manipulate things a bit in order to make it more likely that Asu and Una to become the god/dess of the stars. (Note: Asu became the god of the sun and the stars.)

3. More of a worldbuilding question, but why don't the people from the kingdoms interact too much? Where did the twins actually come from?

The kingdoms are too far away from each other and they're all doing pretty well by themselves. During their time, the only ones who were exiled or ones who ran away from their kingdoms actually leave their kingdom. These people who left these kingdoms ended up making a few small communities, and the twins' parents (who are from different kingdoms) ended up meeting in one of these communities. Basically, the twins' mother died while given birth to them, and the mother's brother visited their house and basically saw how bad the father actually was. He ended up killing the father because of what he saw. Then he adopt the twins' older brother, because he could only afford to take care of one of them. Then he brought the twins to the nearest orphanage because nobody in these communities are willing to adopt anyone (as everyone there barely have enough resources to take care of themselves).

4. It's mentioned that the history books refer to her as a different name; is that her full name, or is it more of a title? Is Una a nickname?

It's her full name. Asu and Una's first names are Asuna and Aluna, so to help differentiate them a bit more, they gave them nicknames. Though, she was given the last name of the previous only after she became the queen.

5. What color did she dye her hair to blend in? Has she ever had trouble maintaining this?

She dyed it black, it somehow faded into a dark purple-blue, which actually helped her blend in with the people from the kingdom she ended up in, which had dark purple hair. The hair dye that she used works weirdly, like it can only be removed during the first 24 hours if the hair gets exposed to water, but after that, you'll need a special mixture to remove the hair dye. So after the first 24 hours, she didn't really need to maintain much. Also, after she dyed her hair, any hair that grows after she dyed it will still look dark purple-blue, so she doesn't have to dye it every once in a while to hide her blonde roots.

Adil malaquill

2. How did she become a goddess? Did her reputation interfere?

3. More of a worldbuilding question, but why don't the people from the kingdoms interact too much? Where did the twins actually come from?

Would Adil eventually ever tell his adoptive daughter about his hardships? If so--how would he go about it and what would be the daughter's reaction?
He may, eventually, but it'll be an uphill battle. He's very much in the mindset that parents shouldn't force their emotional traumas onto their children, and he worries about doing that. At the same time, I think there's only so long he can really hide his past from her? She's smart and already suspects something, so she's well on the path to pushing him to reveal everything, but he'll stubbornly cling to his secrets until that happens.

So, he's a glassmith, if I'm reading correctly but his dexterity is...a bit on the low side. I assume glassblowing takes a bit of patience, quickness when needed and requires a deft hand. How much trouble did he have trying to make works of art while seemingly being on the more clumsy side? Is his current dexterity learned/trained rather than innate?
Stats were something I had trouble with, so the numbers aren't final so much as trying to get a feel for what might be appropriate. That being said, he has to be very active / aware of his actions; he's a huge guy, so if he's not conscious of his every move, things will break (he hates this). The care he takes is very much something he's had to learn, and he can still slip up.

Which parts of his backstory are the gaps in his memory?
Most of life before the war due to the war being such a defining point in his life, and his training and a lot of smaller incidents during. He also has trouble with things immediately post-war; most of his time at the orphanage is a blank for him.

Sahar has been noticeably covered in bandages and has had open wounds before, was Adil the only adult that actually cared/saw changes? How did her parents cover that up and what are they doing/have they been doing while their daughter is gone?
Most people would've just gone "ah shit, another random street beggar, guess there's nothing we can do!" I think. Her parents were pretty neglectful, and she internalized a lot of child-brand cynicism from that; she's also literally venomous, which wards people off. She worries that she was treated that way due to not being cute enough, and is self-conscious about her venom and general snake heritage; most is well-hidden, but she has visible fangs. Her biological parents have searched for her on-and-off over the years, and they're likely to meet Adil at some point.

Did Adil ever get some inkling of a childhood?
Before the war, with his parents, he did! He doesn't remember it too well, but he liked to play outside, and his like of bugs and dislike of vegetable curry (which would've been a recipe from his mom) probably comes from this time. Once he meets the old man, he also gets a little bit of that normalcy back, but only a little; he got to eat real food again (vs "things he could scrounge together on the streets", "underfunded orphanage gruel", and "military rations"), for one.

Who of his family (adoptive or not) is/was Rowan closest to? Who does he miss the most? Were they aware of him and Flynn, and if so, what did they think of it?

Of his adoptive family, definitely Amelie as she took care of him very frequently while Leon was working or trying to get by in some form. She also knew more about vampires as she was Eabha's best friend and knew what she and Jean-Louis were going through. As for his actual parents, he felt closer in relation to his father, Jean-Louis as both of them were working very closely together and giving Rowan the knowledge he needed to become a Duke. I'd say he misses Amelie the most, especially since he can't just go see her whenever he wants to and if he does visit her...well. It'd be at a grave. Jean-Louis had suspicions about him and Flynn, tried to talk to Rowan about it and was very quickly told to 'mind his business' in a polite-ish manner since Rowan had no idea if his birth father would accept it. He wouldn't have if it was made public so it was a bit of a good call on Rowan's part.

Do any of his staff stand out in his eyes? Has he befriended any? What of their jobs would he chose to work at, if prompted to?

Specifically, Magnolia and Cassius. Magnolia not only wormed her way into his heart but she has a certain purity that reminded him a lot of Flynn, so he treated her with extreme caution in the beginning. Her being an absolute sweetheart won him over eventually and she became his wife. Cassius stands out mainly for his ability to--uh--not stand out LOL. Which is kind of ironic but Cassius has an incredible memory and can usually recite things perfectly or recall information exactly as it happened. Not only that but he's very keen to picking up on gossip and rumors while seeming like it's not his business. He would most likely be better at Cassius' job rather than Magnolia's since Cassius is more of a 'spymaster' than an actual butler. He does butler things, it's just not the main thing.

How does he reconcile the cognitive dissonance of "I'm one of the good vampires" while still being a vampire who needs to consume human blood to survive? What's his introspection regarding his sense of self in that way? What exactly is "humane feeding" and how is it different from inhumane feeding?

It's mainly a matter of 'does this person consent or not'. Nonconsensual feeding is something he considers to be very, VERY wrong in all regards. It's really the only way he can feel unrepented by the action itself. He really tries to not feed when he can and really only when he actively feels like he's going to 'frenzy' (beastial-like state, instinct based mindset) within the next week-ish. He's come to terms with what he is, so he doesn't feel like any less of a vampire or person, he just wants to take the moral high ground so he can feel better about himself and who he is as a person. And who that is happens to not be a typical charismatic and sweet talking vampire. Humane feeding strictly has consent involved from both parties. If the human is scared in ANY way (body language, words, shaky voice/hands, typical fear indicators), then he absolutely 100% will NOT feed on them no matter what they say. If he's really hungry, then he will at least try to soothe the human but overall, whoever he feeds off of will get very well taken care of in the aftermath. If they say 'no', then it's a no and he will find someone else within his estate.

4. He's clearly had trauma related to romance for himself, but how does he feel about others' romances, particularly between mortals?

He finds it sweet? He so rarely finds that he pays attention to other people's romances that it doesn't really bother him. Before Magnolia, he probably would have been like, 'Flynn and I could have done that had I saved him'. After Magnolia though, he tends to look at other people and think of ways to take her out on a date. Of course, it sort of took a while for him to get to that point with her.

5. If it were possible to have a choice, would he want to remain a vampire or become a mortal human?

He would absolutely be human, without a doubt. He doesn't particularly like the fact that he has to either turn his friends (effectively either causing them a ridiculous amount of physical pain and turning into dust or causing them a ridiculous physical pain and a constant burning sensation for a solid two-three weeks while they turn) or watch them die and he has to move on with his life. So honestly, he'd rather die with them than watch.

1. he has one but i kind of can't talk about it in a SFW thread

2. i can't think of one off the top of my head!

3. he laughs

4. ambiently thinking about them; they're lowkey always on his mind so

5. nothing, he doesn't care about objects

thank you for the questions!

Kotomi Rikimaru Log10

1. Does he have any bad habits?

2. Does he have some kind of phrase, word, or sentence he overuses?

3. How does he react to criticism?

4. What reminds him of his friends and beloved ones?

5. What personal objects are important for him?

1. Yes, she does, her favorite card is a pretty old card of her mother. She always carries it with her in her wallet. She has had it since she was a child, so it is pretty damaged, but she's really sentimental about it.

2. She's pretty bad at it since she is pretty stubborn and starts arguing with others easily if she doesn't like their point of view. She's really proud and can't stand when somebody is telling her what to do. She prefers to do everything alone because she doesn't like relying on others, so she's rather a lone wolf.

3. She's really proud of it, especially because she inherited it from her mother. She really loves it and is really glad that her quirk centers around her interests. She loves thinking of new ways she can use it. She feels that it connects her to her parents.

4. The biggest challenge for her is talking about and expressing what she feels. She may seem like an emotionless robot for some people, but deep inside her feelings are overwhelming her. There're days that she really wants to talk to somebody about her sadness, about her parents, failures, but she doesn't even know how to do it, so she often just cry alone in her room. It takes her a lot of time to open up to somebody.

5. When she has some free time, she usually loves to read and learn new things, it doesn't matter if it is math, physic, or superhero magazine, she really enjoys finding all kinds of facts about things that really interest her.

Thank you so much for the questions!

Rasseler lycanvvolf

1. what's one skill Siren wishes they had?

2. do they collect anything/have a collection?

3. if she were to see her parents again, what would she say to them?

4. did Siren have any really good friends?

5. do they have any pets/familiars/animals or really anything that follows them around?

1. What's his first language?

- Rass was born in Germany, so he mostly spoke German before moving to America (specifically Minnesota). It took him years to really be fluent in English and even after his death and being reborn as a demon he still has an accent and broken English.

2. Who did he kill? How/why did he forget about that?

- He doesn't remember anything from his past life at all, especially past actions that he's done (he still has important memories like family and accomplishments), so he wouldn't really have a direct answer to that. It still puzzles him because he knows that he wouldn't develop the courage to even commit an act like that, it may have been a sudden urge out of nowhere. Some things he may say he probably killed was either a rival, a past "friend", or even some lonely guy on the street.

3. What kind of business did he work for while he was alive, and why did so many people have beef with him?

- He may has worked as a marketing coordinator or a sales representative, but he also recalls selling drugs and narcotics to people on the street just to earn some extra money. He was a very smart man when he was alive, and very clever if there was anyone wanting to sabotage him or rob him of his stash. Co-workers had jealousy for him because he was actually very successful in his career.

4. What did he look like before he died?

- He was an average built man and very lengthy, he always had a side-swept hairstyle. He had dark and clear skin which always looked like was glowing in the sunlight. He normally wore casual clothes but also had a suit for when he had to show up for a business meeting.

5. How did Thatcher convince him not to kill him?

- ..It's hard to explain since I'm still developing that, but Thatcher most likely bribed him for money in exchange of a favor Rasseler wanted him to do for him, like maybe steal him some shiny jewelry or go fetch him his favorite burger off the burger stand by the park. Rass probably wouldn't had killed Thatcher right off the bat anyway since he saw something in him that made him stop, which is rare, since he has severe trust issues and would kill you on sight if you were to approach him.

Petrel malaquill

1. What's his first language?

2. Who did he kill? How/why did he forget about that?

3. What kind of business did he work for while he was alive, and why did so many people have beef with him?

1- Why was Petrel in a cult, was he pressured, or was it something he seemed interested in? And why did he decide to leave?
Born into it, but his parents joined because they were poor and desperate and had lost faith in the "main" religion of the setting due to their circumstances; it was his mom's idea. Part of the reason they joined was for him; cults tend to promise better things, and they were at rock bottom. He left because his mage friend was tired of the constant mistreatment of himself and their friends and revolted, burning the village down. There were some survivors, but they're scattered, much like Petrel, who fell into an existential depression afterward.

2- Why doesn't he like dogs Has he had a bad experience with one before?
He hasn't had a bad experience with one! His dislike is more about what dogs represent to him; he's been compared to a dog more than once, and sees himself in them. But since he's very inclined toward self-loathing, seeing himself in something means he's also not a fan of that thing. People are different, but he's still learning to deal with people and is all over the place.

3- Does he enjoy his current job as a baker? What's his favourite thing to cook?
He does! It's relaxing and productive. He likes to make that really nice type of bread with the crunchy crust; it's practical and he thinks it tastes good (though he may not admit to that).

4- Is there anything that helps Petrel when he has a ptsd episode? maybe a comfort of some sort to help calm him down?
He's still working on coping mechanisms, and really only trusts his husband to help him. They're almost certainly discussed things like that; Isei can't be there all the time, and Petrel knows that, so he's trying to be okay on his own, but he can't really control it. They've played with the idea of magic items (tea that's sort of this magical anti-depressant; doesn't fix everything but helps a little just like irl, a charm that shields him, etc), though. He has trouble calming down, and can take days to recover if things are bad enough. If he's at home, he tends to start cleaning; it doesn't really help, but it's a distraction.

5- Did Petrel have any sort of feelings towards Isei while they were enemies?
Not that he was aware of it, but Isei definitely awakened something in him during their time as enemies. Petrel actually didn't recognize that he was feeling love until the moment he confessed, because he has the emotional intelligence of a hungry seagull.

1- Clear Card is the Element of Magic, so she excels in almost every type of magic - all but dark magic as she hasn't had much practice or contact with it.

2- I'm not the creator of Clear Card, or her Cutie marks design - I've only come up with her personality/story, so i'm not too sure what the original designer had planned for it's meaning. Though in my Opinion, her cutiemark expresses her connection/love for astronomy and magic.

3- Clear Card views views Princess Celestia very highly. As Celestia's student she basically grew up with the Princess, so Clear Card subconsciously views Celestia as almost a motherly figure. And as for Princess Luna, she's only known the princess of the night for a few months. Other ponies tend to be wary around the reformed princess, but Clear Card completely trusts and cares for Luna as they have a lot in common.

4- Clear Card enjoys reading about all types of things, whether its informational study books, fiction, or non-fiction books! Her favourite thing to draw is the moon, usually a crescent moon similar to her own cutiemark.

5- Clear Card became friends with them the day they met, though they weren't as close as they are currently - It took a few months for them to gain that bond.

Katsu Saito HowlingCat

1) Is there any specific form of magic that Clear Card excel in? I haven't seen MLP in a while, but I do vaguely telekinesis being common form being used.

2) I'm curious on the choice of her cutie mark. What is it meant to represent? I assume it has connection to her love for astronomy.

3) How does Clear Card view Princess Celestia and Princess Luna?

4) Is there anything she enjoy specifically drawing and reading about?

5) How long did it take to warm up to her friends in Ponyville?

1. Which of his siblings is he the closest to? What's his relationship with them?

He's closest to his twin brother (Gael)  here as he often the more wise and mature one compared to their younger. It's something that Katsu values since he often goes to him if he wants advice on things since Katsu has share of things that really messed with him during the years. Regardless, Katsu himself is very close to his siblings since they often lift each other up whenever they're down and push the other into not giving up on the dreams/what they're trying to accomplish. For Gael, Katsu allows himself to vent to him about his darker thoughts. For Akari, he often tries to motivate her into figuring out things she struggle to understand.

2. Was a necklace he received from his grandma a kind of family treasure that is passed from one generation to the next one or something that meant a lot to her?

It wasn't a family treasure. It was just something that his grandma had for years every since she was a kid. However, Katsu values very deeply since it was something that his grandma would never give away to just anyone so for her to give it him meant that she really trusted him to have it.

3. What does he like in cats? Would he want to have one in his team?

He likes cats because he just finds them to be adorable and interesting to look at. I think it was honestly his introduction of Mew as a Pokemon that existed that really pushed that love. Also, he probably would depending on the Pokemon in question and who's on the team. If his team consist of Jun, he wouldn't because his Inteleon has a fear for cat Pokemon, considering his face got slashed by Galar Meowth. If he wasn't on the team, that depends on the Pokemon. He's not the type to put a random cat Pokemon on his team without knowing how to fight....though on that same time..he is the type to collect as many cats as possible.

4. How does he feel after losing a battle?

For the first few seconds, the fact he lost would sting. However, after that, he moves on and learns how to get stronger. To him, the idea of losing is something that can be a overall learning experience for him.

5. Is there a specific reason why he picked to play ukulele, of all instruments?

It wasn't something that he actually picked. It was something his mother gave him because she thought it was something he would appreciate.  He ended up just sticking with it since it was a "simple" instrument to learn and it was easy to carry around and use whenever he feels like using it.

4. How does he feel after losing a battle?

1. If he could, he'd love to get rid of his anxiety. It stops him from doing a lot of things and later he regrets not taking the chance when he could do it.

2. When Solaris is with Eudora, he acts really romantic and he always makes her blush with his "pick-up lines" and he isn't afraid to show her how much he loves her in public. He loves teasing her about how easily she gets embarrassed. He also often writes songs about her. He loves every moment he spent with her, no matter if it's a date or a mission. However, his most treasurable memory was when she confessed to him.

3. Yes, like all powers, his vitakinesis has limits, especially in night or on the cloudy days - he gets tired much easier when he can't see the sun that gives him strength.

4. Yes, but it doesn't work like that - person he cursed speaks only in rhymes for some amount of time.

5. Sol has learned a lot of things from his stepfather -to think logically, to always be honest, and never give up, but he doesn't see him as a father. For Sol, Sam is more like this type of always young uncle, who has a great sense of humor and is up to all the newest trends. He uses social media, rides a motorbike (and always takes Solaris for a ride), listens to modern music. Sam has never scolded Sol for anything bad he has done. He's pretty chill.

Zinnia salternate

1. Kind of a silly, random question, but if there was one this Sol would change about himself, what would it be (and why)?

2. I want to know about Sol's relationship with Eudora. What would Sol consider his most treasured memory with her?

3. Does he get weaker when he uses his vitakinesis?

4. Is he aware that he could curse people with his rhyming? Is this voluntary?

5. Sol's bio mentions his stepdad briefly. How else did Sam impact Sol? Why doesn't Sol really consider his dad, and did this impact their relationship?

-------------------

1. The hair flop is a conscious thing! If she were to do something else with it, she would most likely do a ponytail or a braid.

2. If she were to foster cats, she would most likely end up adopting them if she got the chance. All of her cats are adopted.

3. She does cook (though she is not a good one). The pasta theme stuck with them; they're just cute names Zinnia and her parents chose.

4. She has experienced her fears a ton in stressful situations, especially with her claustrophobia.

5. I haven't put much thought into this one; good question! Her future is undetermined, but she might like to get into cosmetology! She would most likely go to college when she grows up and put her career to use immediately after. She would be the type of person expected by her family to take harder classes in school.
