ANNOUNCEMENT: THREAD CLOSING
People probably saw this coming from the increase in skipped/late weeks already, and while I really wanted to keep the thread running, I have come to realize it's just not something I have the time and energy to do. I have gotten increasingly more busy with IRL obligations and in turn used TH less and less, and after a little over 5 years it starts to get a bit more difficult to think of themes that haven't been used yet.
Nevertheless, it's been fun, and I have greatly enjoyed seeing all the characters people have posted here over the years! I didn't expect I'd keep up with this thread every week for this many years, with only a total of 3 skips (two of which are from the past few months). I would like to thank everyone who has posted their characters here and kept the thread alive!
Though I will no longer be updating this thread with new prompts, I'll keep it up & unlocked for people to post their characters if they still want to continue doing it - after all, this thread has always allowed people to post characters based on past prompts as well. I'm also cool with people remaking this thread on their own - just shoot me a message, and I'll link the new thread here. I still check TH daily even if I no longer have much of a presence around the forums.

An easy answer for me would be 'the entire Artificial Existence folder, please' but nope, XD I think you've seen more than enough of the androids. Therefore, I'm pushing Rodion forward instead. He's my first ever cyborg OC so I'm still playing with the ideas concerned the boundary of power and limitation of his automatron arm. In some way it's similar to how the limbs on the androids are constructed but of course because he doesn't possess artificial inorganic brain, some functions that work on the androids don't work well with him and his biological brain.
Ooh tbh I don't have many sci-fi characters but Manari could count, I guess? She has met aliens and studies their species, languages and cultures as a "hobby". She has also created two robots thanks to her studies of alien technology c:
I tend to have kind of quirky sci-fi characters :') I love the genre, but don't have a long-term sci-fi project, so these are all from minicomics or other odds and ends.
- "Bagel" is whom I'd consider my most sci-fi character. They're from a short comic about the day the Singularity comes, and it turns out the main character was the robot becoming self-aware. I've thought of making some companion comics to the original someday.
- Engineer Eddie and Abomatron are characters made for a minicomic about a space train anime, the plucky young hero and evil robot villain respectively. Watch them battle for the fate of the space train every Saturday morning!
- Kliph is a space moth captain from a different minicomic; he traveled to Earth to find a new land for his people. He found a Burlington Coat Factory.
- Frequency was made just for a robot art battle with a friend, but they're a musical space robot who fights with an "air guitar".
- Yevgeniy was drawn for fun, really, but he's a yeti robot made for a 1970s/80s style anime hero team-- but he'd rather read than do anything he's asked.
- And of course, I have ASTROBOT. I don't really consider him sci-fi since the world of the game I use him in is more like... urban fantasy? It's a game where one baseball team is chiefly made up of IKEA furniture and another breakfast foods, among actual human OCs-- and another NPC is a ghost. Nevertheless, ASTROBOT is your classic 1980s anime super robot, except that he loves shopping and baseball and yelling in emojis, and he battles no evil whatsoever except for lasering or smashing things when he doesn't get his way.
Ooh, been a while since I've brought her into a game, but Fio here is my space pirate captain! She and her octo-alien gf run a crew of misfits.
There's also my darling AKINO-75 and her counterpart, Sleuß, a pair of androids wrought by mysterious otherworldly forces, who can manipulate time and space itself.
I also have this setting, which is not specifically sci-fi, but it is far future post-apocalyptic (in another world) with strange technologies involved! More of a fantasy dieselpunk setting, but that might count somewhat.
While my universe isn't super Sci-fi, there is that whole 20 minutes in the future, basically a modern setting with some technological advancements, but not much. She's got a cybernetic arm, a cybernetic eye, and she builds robots and AI systems. So I'd say she fits, yee. Also she's cute.
If we count digital sci-fi themed then Cypher her is great She is. Tron oc with so much crap that happened to her.

Truth be told, I never had an interest in writing sci-fi, but then her story concept came to mind. Now I'm trying to figure out how science works so that I don't look like a complete fool writing her story. OTL

A lot of my characters (if not all of them lol) are more sci-fi and fantasy themed, but Emoticon is probably the guy who pushes it to the limit the most as he literally floats through space and enjoys meeting other aliens and discovering futuristic technology on a regular basis haha. I love him even though I haven't drawn him in ages.
A lot of my characters fall on this morally gray area where most of them have broken the laws at least once in some way or another, but for the sake of being sort of consistent I'm posting only the characters I consider criminals myself or they're wanted people for some sort of crime they have committed
Desiree is part of an information broker agency, and although they do press stuff as their public work it's clear they work with criminals and sell information they get lol. Aside from gaining information through illegal means and then selling them to whoever pays the best, Desiree is also a wanted man for faking his ID and traveling a stowaway to another land entirely.
Ivan fixes & deals weapons in a black market and occasionally does assassination jobs as well along with other dirty work if he gets paid well enough. He is a criminal through and through, although admittedly he was forced on that path and doesn't really enjoy doing the things he does - it's out of necessity, but doesn't erase the fact he has killed and hurt countless of people and broken more laws than he can possibly count.
Lilianne is a cat burglar, originally out of a necessity but nowadays she just genuinely enjoys the thrill of it
Morgan was banished from the demon realm for rebelling against Damian & in the human realm they use their position within the church to kill innocent people as a way to get food. That being said, Morgan eventually calms down a lot and sort of starts to pursue after a more pacifistic life, but it's too late by then - they're killed by someone whose parents died from Morgan's orders.
Risu is considered an outlaw for having escaped his home country & not performing his duties. He also isn't above stealing if it's his only way to survive
Vivian is an assassin and and all-around heathen who has little to no empathy for those she uses to achieve her goals
Ooblek and Boremir are both in the Midnight Garde, a guild of theives in my D&D campaign. As such, both of them have commited their fair share of crimes. Ooblek, as a mind flayer, has series of murders under her belt, and some of the pricing of the wares in her shop is a scam. Boremir sticks mostly to petty thievery when he goes to the surface, mostly for old books to add to the library, as well as to his vast resevoir of knowledge.
There are some other NPCs in the Midnight Garde who I haven't posted yet, such as Currilstarl, a Slaad who uses their shapeshifting abilities to grift people out of thousands of gold. Or Veirieth, a doppelganger who also uses her shapeshifting abilities, mostly to sneak into the houses of the rich and greedy and either murder them or expose their deepest secrets in the hopes of overthrowing them.
