Show me some characters you're using for comics!

(or stories in general!)
My most developed characters are for our story 'Our Favorite Star', which is a work in progress comic.
[ Shiori ]

Shiori is a Japanese girl (she grew up outside of tokyo). She's incredibly gay-- she finds guys annoying because she grew up in a school of mostly guys because of the location (business families mostly). The story takes place in the future so she was 'born' earlier this year. She has no siblings-- but her parents are doctors. In 2036 she is in Tokyo in med school and part times as a maid in a Maid Cafe. She's generally sweet but she's really annoying in the eyes of Odyssey (who I'm introducing next)
[ character page ]

Odyssey is by far my favorite out of all the characters. She grew up in Alaska- within the alternate universe of our earth the Korean War never came to an end and attacks on alaska happened because of the oil deposits there. Other parts of the U.S. were also attacked. anyways-- she fled to Japan. Mentally she's not stable because of how trash her family was (can't detail that much because it'll be in the story) Deus, her brother and only comfort, who was drafted in the military. She begins getting more and more sad as he's gone-- she left the rest of her family to die in Alaska. She's cold hearted and easily annoyed. When she's in Japan she wants to become a chef.

It's not a comic yet- but I am working on an original story that only had an ongoing (though it only have the prologue rn) web-novel/fiction-- The entire characters' folders are here. Though I could also share this simple profile thing I did recently for the main cast: (there's some grammar errors but I'm lazy to fix them atm lol)

Literally every single one of my OCs (except Geremy) is for a comic!! I've got so many ongoing stories that I've yet to make aaaaa

I'm working on a reboot for my comic, Catband! You can see all the characters here. It's a story about a battle of the bands TV competition.

To highlight a few characters, Amber is a girl who's a talented songwriter and guitarist, but she's shy about sharing her music. Her best friend Jill, a singer, is convinced the world needs to hear Amber's music, and convinces her to sign up for this competition as a band. Can they do it or is the stress going to tear them apart?

The major rival to the girls' band is a punk band led by Izzy, this kid who's just a bundle of energy and enthusiasm, rude and loud, but loyal and determined for his band to win no matter what it takes-- but he's got his own band's problems to worry about, too, and the whole thing might be more complicated than he ever expected.

All of these characters are in my webcomic/graphic novel, Ellie, Liz and Beth.

It's about three witches, all named Elizabeth, who keep non-magical citizens safe from magical dangers since the only way to see magic is to be magical yourself.

Ellie is a witch who uses runes for protective magics, and she has a sloth familiar that telepathically contacted her while she was at the zoo. The zookeepers had named them 'Taylor (not-so-swift)' And she loved the name so much that she almost cried.

Liz uses Incantations, usually in the form of poetry to cast her magics. She runs a magic library filled with books that her deceased mother left for her when she was a child. Her familiar is Alónnor, a Binturong who grew up alongside her and helps her run the library, doing things like fetching overdue books and using illusions to run the library while she's out.

Beth is an alchemist who creates potions of varying effects. She's an extremely powerful witch, able to control both fire and water elements, making her a perfect candidate for alchemy. Only Beth herself knows where her familiar Dominique came from, a sassy and sometimes downright violent Mantis shrimp who uses telepathy to speak to Beth, and only Beth. They help Beth through her problems with depression and act as support for her.

This whole folder lol

Though some characters in there are just ones present in the comic uni, but not actually in the comic itself.

It's called In Memoriam and I've been posting the comic since April 2017 - though it's been on an on/off hiatus because I just can't find the time to work on pages HDFBHF. This is the logline:

A shy priest by the name of Dante Ignazio discovers a mysterious, odd looking man washed up on a local beach. The man has no recollection of his past or identity, and with Dante’s help, tries to discover who he once was.

These are the main chars:

Dante who's a priest - he finds Preston/Abaddon washed up on a beach after a storm and the comic revolves around them/their interactions and Preston learning how 2 b a Person.

Preston / Abaddon - is an angel who inexplicably fell to Earth one stormy night. He doesn't remember anything about his past/himself so Dante helps him relearn things - even though both are unaware that his actual identity is that of an angel, not human.

These are the supporting cast - some of who have appeared, are about to, and won't until the last half of the comic. etc.

my bf and i have a comic in the works called 'Gay Comedic Angst™' which was basically just a dumb filler title but we decided to keep it bc that's literally what the comic is summed up in a title - two protagonists are gay, there's a lot of comedy, and like everyone dies almost so angst

anyway, out of my characters (not including his here) we have takaio (who's one of the main protagonists), hyrina, epsilo, kelion (and in turn, rahart and seulki), djenah, nemura (who's the main antagonist), eloise, and daovia!

the concept to your story is interesting! Ayumu is cute too !!

@goldenpinecone
how do you keep track of that many stories? That's great though that you use your characters for something!!

hedgemaze
I love the concept are you going to post it somewhere? I'd for sure read it!! (your art is really good too!!) I like how there's rivalry and readers can hope for who's going to win and such. That's a really interesting concept to put into a story/comic!!

honeyshuckle
all of them sound sO cute!! I'd love to read your comic about them. (I have a weakness for witch characters) also I like the concept of them all having the same name (reminds me of Heather's)

I LOVE IT!! I was reading some of it because you linked it and it looks great! What size canvas do you typically use though-- because I normally work on high quality canvas' and it's so difficult to get it to work out and look good???

AlleycatIrony
Sounds great lmaO-- two of the characters in Our Favorite Star are like REALLY GAY (well one of them is demi but) they're really cute together and I can't really say or draw them together until they're together cannon. I also work a comic w/ my s/o ! It's a lot of fun!

@stelliformsouls

thank you!! :D

and I work...on a pretty small canvas I'd say?? it's 1697x2793 and I resize it down to 549x904 once I'm finished with a page.

I used to work at double the size, around 4000px, but I shrunk it down because it was taking forever to finish a page hdhfhg

KittyKnight

I've always wanted to make a comic! So far I have these characters who I'd use for a comic! Although not all of them have a purpose yet, and even then there's definitely two parts, maybe more. One of part is far more recent and less developed than the other and uses a bunch of different characters... Though some do carry through.

The first part is basically a ranked match of Town of Salem, just with a little more character development. The other heavily strays from that, but keeps the whole role thing.

Though tbh, I'm kinda just stuck in the planning stage as I'm trying to figure out how the story is gonna go. I got a vague idea, but I'm trying to figure out every last detail. Probably a bad idea, as I'd be stuck there forever and never get anything done.

 Delabra heheheather

I'm planning on using Delabra for a visual story, one without any text and purely relying on scenes.

I'm also hoping to use Lydia and Fil for a comic!

Caine

I'm using my cast of Sinfonia primarily for a visual novel but I have drawn a couple of comics about them too, although pretty short! I really want to do more about them though

I have also planned on making comics about Emil and Miles but I have honestly no idea when I'll be able to put that plan in motion: I actually dislike drawing comics even though I adore reading them and that's why usually prefer writing / doing visual novels but I WANT to learn to like drawing comics & get better at them

Kattenkvvaad

everyone in this folder will hopefully be part of a comic someday.

ponever

Now im writing script for comic about Inver, planning to start draw it at this summer :D

@stelliformsouls Oof I'm sorry, I meant to reply to this, but I lost track of the thread @_@

I love the concept are you going to post it somewhere? I'd for sure read it!! (your art is really good too!!) I like how there's rivalry and readers can hope for who's going to win and such. That's a really interesting concept to put into a story/comic!!

Thank you so much!! :') Yes, I'll post the comic online when I start it up again.

I'm really glad that you noticed the rivalry aspect-- that's something I always intended, that the readers could have favorites they would pull for and be able to discuss. I used to think about having polls people could vote on-- not who wins, but maybe little things as if it were a real reality show like "themed weeks" on the show, or something like that. I want it to be interactive, maybe, but definitely something people can get invested in-- I want readers to care about the contestants.

Anyway thank you again, and thank you for making this thread (this is a little bump too, haha)-- it's great to hear about everyone's projects!
