What one item would your OC save from a fire?

Posted 6 years, 3 months ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Amber hedgemaze

In the vein of the "What's in your character's pocket?" thread, here's another little question that might say a lot about your character!

What's the single most important physical item in your character's life, the one thing they would save from a burning building? Why is it so important to them? (Alternately, is there anything they would be happy to see burn?)

(Maybe try not to pick pets or loved ones for this since that's probably the logical first priority for most characters, but you can if that's absolutely the only thing that would be on their mind!)

I'll go first, and say that Amber would save her guitar, because it was a gift from someone very dear to her who has since passed on.

His framed photo of him and his childhood friend.

damascus

For a while, Dejan owned nothing but the clothes on his back. The possessions he’s collected since then are all important to him, as they basically comprise his entire adult life. Having run away, he doesn’t own any sentimental childhood items, or any family heirlooms. He would struggle to choose between his PS2 and his older Spyro games… or the small box of various mementos from his and HP’s relationship. On the one hand, Spyro! Some of those games are hard to get nowadays! On the other hand… Ultimately, he would grab the box of memories, and then get scolded later for not grabbing something more important, like the cash he keeps hidden--but everything in that box is a treasure to him.

One box, medium-small. No label. Contents: stack of polaroids x1, photo booth picture strip x2, small stuffed horse with crossed eyes x1, love letter (unsent) x1, pair of movie theatre ticket stubs x4, bad joke t-shirt x1, cheap dinosaur toy with wings glued on x1, ren faire admittance wristband x2.

($30) Cass Suzuhikoto

Cass would save a fantasy book he's had since he was a kid. It's helped him get away from the neglect he constantly faced, even if just for a short while, and he always finds it easy to just let his mind focus on it and let everything else melt away, letting the familiar story wash over him. A second pick would be a game Ezra bought for him that they both love to bits, but the book has too much sentimental value for him to let it turn into ash.

Hugo DanTheMemeMan

A knife, murder is fun.

Claude Lovelace Caine

Definitely his flute! He's very emotionally attached to it for pretty understandable reasons (it's essentially the only thing that helps him express his feelings) and even though he could just buy a new one he... doesn't. It has to be that flute specifically.

Everything else is kinda whatever to him because he's rich and knows everything else material could be replaced AND he doesn't have much of an emotional attachment to them.

Max batzy

he would probably try to save his computer as he’s an inventor. the computer he built himself, and it’s filled with all the blueprints for his robot friends. not only does it have blueprints, it also has images of his old home, which was out in the city. he misses that place, but he knows it was better that he was kicked out.

and if Max could, he would try to save all of his robots, but he has w a y too many. so, by bringing the computer he could at least try to build them again and rewrite their code (he would probably try to make the robots fire proof).

Saffron salternate

Saffron would possibly keep a stuffed animal belonging to one of her children. Despite her brash, snobby exterior, she has a soft spot for children's belongings and holds a ton of sentimental value (though her husband claimed most of them to use as puppets).

Tsuki Tenshi_Yoru

Tsuki would surely save her parents' old photo album. As they are both dead, she thinks that without it she'll surely forget their faces and that's why she treasures it with all her heart. Even if she could make digital copies of those pictures, she insists it wouldn't be the same thing.

Heather Lewis uszatyarbuz

Heather would run instantly to her collection of magical trinkets and curiosities but it would be SO HARD for her to chose only one item... But then she spots a notebook laying on a desk just next to her - a gift from her crush (even though she doesn't realize she's heels over head for him). It's a magical book that is similar to muggle cell phone in sense of texting, when she writes a message, a reply from him appears as he writes it in his copy of the book. Glancing over the collection, she grabs the book and jumps off the window.

Azure (PokéLive!Azure) Sonicfan9988

Any sort of a one of a kind trophy that Azure won from a Pokémon Trainer competition while her and her girlfriend Beverly get out of their apartment, since both Bev and Azure can always replace anything else of their possessions that may get burnt in the fire due to both having lots of prize money they won from battles against other Trainers as well as the money they get as part of theirr paychecks from their respective jobs uwu

Axel Falkenrath sbzpruiosnejre

Axel would fight to douse the fire before finally giving in and grabbing anything that was most sentimental to someone else - he doesn't keep anything sentimental himself. So otherwise what ever was nearby that had the most use to him.

Dashshy Golden-Bloomy

Her silver cover notebook, it's a journal written about every events in her life
