Day 8.2

Perhaps that was what made Cole so hesitant. Of course he didn't like the way that the goddess in the tree had refused to answer any of their questions, seeming so distant and removed from the fight her summoned champions were fighting that you almost would have believed it had nothing to do with her safety. However, the god of decay seemed too willing to divulge answers. He had no way of knowing if any of the champions he had called to him were secretly reporting back to the goddess, and yet right off the bat, he told them more than the goddess ever did.

One could argue it was because he needed to dissuade them from following the goddess and continuing to fight that he told them so much, or perhaps because he did not have the presence as a speaker that the goddess did. However, Cole still felt like the god was compensating for something, and that made him nervous.

I can't fight against either side, he thought to himself, pausing for a moment to process that revelation as the undead army got further ahead and closer to the field where they would fight. They both have real people on them, cats and lions with family and friends and beliefs. Everyone seems to be fighting for something they believe in. Am I in any position to judge who has a worthier cause to fight for when I can't even tell if either god is telling the truth? And if neither is worthy to fight for, I can't very well just go around fighting against both. I'm just one lion. I wouldn't make a dent in either side's numbers. I can't even fight just the wooden, mindless puppets that are under the god of decay. They look like they have no real sentience, but I can't know that for sure. I can't know anything for sure right now. And besides, if I just fought against them, it would basically be fighting for the goddess, and I would get tangled up in some fight against champions that I don't want to be in.

What was Cole supposed to do? There was no winning; no matter what he did, he would lose something.

I'm just going to have to watch and observe. That's what I came here to do, after all. Record what happens. So, I will sit and watch...and pray Kina doesn't do anything stupid.
