Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of communication this month - I’ve been (and still am) dealing with some things IRL, so I put off announcing this. To the folks who have sent unanswered PMs and comments to me; sorry for putting you on hold, and hopefully this answers your questions.

With the start of 2024, CQ’s monthly challenges are officially done, and I’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus from the group. I’ve been struggling to run things for over a year now - I trudged through 2023 because people have been enjoying the challenges, but it’s time for me to call it quits.

The world will stay up, as will the member masterlist site - I’d like both of these to act as archives for the monthly challenges. When I have time I’ll be logging December’s submissions, as well as updating the world homepage + masterlist with the info I’m laying down here. I’ll also be opening up members-only pages to be readable by public viewers - this includes past challenges. Feel free to go through the archive - we have two and a half years worth of challenges that you’re free to use (with credit).

I’d potentially like to upload more prompts some time in the future. I’ve always enjoyed creating the more visual challenges - layouts, moodboards and styles - and seeing what people do with them. If I decide to make these, they wouldn’t have a time limit or hard set rules like the monthly challenges. This is just an idea I’ve been toying with, but if I find the motivation to upload periodically I’ll announce it in this world and on my main account.

Before I go I want to thank you all for sharing you work. Even if I haven’t had the time and energy to individually comment on everyone’s submissions the past year, it’s been so fun seeing how you take the prompts in different directions. CQ started in July 2021 (which is WILD) and we’ve had so many new coders in the group and on the site in general since then. Seeing your improvement has been so cool, make sure you keep at it!

That’s all from me. Old challenges are open for you to take inspiration from - we will just be shutting down the submission aspect. New prompts may get uploaded periodically, they’ll be announced in bulletins here. Take care!
