Matthew "Macovenom" O'Connor

21 | 5'1" | ??? | O-

Personality:

Reckless - Caring - Stubborn - Bold - Blunt

Maco is a strange fellow: On one hand, he comes off as an arrogant little prick who says what he thinks with little regard to anything, meaning very few would want to be friends with this guy. However, those who can pierce through his thick shell of sarcasm, swear words and general annoying attitude will tell you he’s anything but: He’s fairly caring and selfless to friends, willing to throw his life away to make sure they come out okay. He’s got a calm head on his shoulders, able to take charge and think tactically when the need arises. That being said, he isn’t without his flaws: He is needlessly bold, reckless and stubborn. Sometimes, he’ll even do a dangerous stunt if dared to just to prove he can do it. On top of that, he HATES backing down, changing plans or going with someone else’s plan, meaning he can be very stand-offish and confrontational if questioned or challenged. The only time he’d ever change his strategy is if he can tell with absolute certainty that what he’s doing is not working.

Origin:

The entirety of Matt's family history is a long and convoluted mess of timelines meshing in places they shouldn't. Born the older brother of 2, he often had to deal with not getting too attached to anyone as the family often moved due to his father's "line of work." His mother suffered a chronic illness that while she tried to hide it and pretend she was fine, at some point Matthew started seeing through the façade, made even worse when her health deteriorated so bad that eventually, it took her when he was only 9. But that was only the beginning.

Before he gained the eye, he was in a baseball team, representing the high school he was going to at the time. One fateful day 3 years ago, he went to practice in his free time with some friends. After practice, Matt and his friends departed and went their separate ways. On his walk home, he was attacked by…Something. He couldn’t tell what it was: It looked human but it sure as hell wasn’t human. Not to mention it was spouting nonsense about “Correcting the timeline” or how Matt was not supposed to exist at all. Matt ended up killing it in self-defense, although he wasn't completely unscathed: the attacker completely destroyed Matt's right eye and left a lot of other wounds on him, leaving him in a lot of pain. As luck would have it, the artifact it was carrying (Known as the timekeeper's clock) transferred ownership to him, replacing his destroyed eye with it, which while also painful at least he could see again through that eye. On top of that, it undid the wounds he suffered, basically saving him from an early grave. He's lived like this ever since, much to his dismay.

It didn't help that soon, his Father left the two boys behind, with a simple explanation that he realized Matthew was now bound by the Timekeeper's contract, and it meant that he'd have to kill any and all violators of time...which his father was one of them (he was from the future, and travelled back to stop something that happened). He knew Matt could find himself in a situation where he'd have to kill his own father, and the father refused to put either brother in that kind of situation. He left inheritance money and a simple request:

"Don't look for me"

Neither Matthew nor Maxwell listened to this. They traveled far and wide looking for their father, but problems were already starting to rise. Matt often had to leave his brother alone for periods of time to deal with whatever threat Penny had directed him to. The money was running thin, and Matt's addiction wasn't helping. As much as it saddened him, he decided to leave Maxwell with his grandparents, entrusting the rest of the inheritance to Maxwell. From there he tried to get his act together, even if it wasn't easy: He shook off that addiction. He reconnected with some old friends, found himself a place to call his own. But in the back of his mind, he was still haunted by both his past and his present. Despite his attempts to smile and pretend everything is fine, he inherited his mother's readability, and some can tell he was in a lot of pain, both physical, mental and emotional

Powers and Abilities:

Weapon summon: Maco can summon (or call back to him) a blade that appears like a clock hand. It can also be modified to appear like a bat, or de-summoned at will. However, while summoned, it can be stolen and used against him, as he cannot summon or call it back until an hour has passed. On top of that, Maco is not the most skilled with sword fighting, and will usually use its bat form, but it is always summoned as a sword by default so in desperate situations he’d have to use it as a blade.

Time Baseball: A time-based ability unique to Maco, he can summon a ball of time-based energy, as well as a modified version of the clock blade to appear like a bat. Getting hit with this baseball will freeze a person in place anywhere between 5 to 20 seconds.

Timeless Void: Maco can open a door-like portal into this place, in which he can boot someone else into it. The victim can exit, but they can either exit a few seconds or whole years into the future. Maco has no control over this whatsoever. He can only do this about once a day (and as many times as he wants for entering the void himself), as it's not intended to send other people into Penny's domain, and Penny's not exactly a fan of unannounced guests.

Deja vu: Maco is rather in tune with alternate timelines and some aspects of the future. In some instances, he will get an intense feeling of having dealt with a situation before, and would know exactly how to deal with it. He doesn't have long to react, though, so no time for thinking!

Combat style: Thanks to experience, Maco usually avoids immediate confrontation, preferring to study the opponent and find potential weaknesses that can be exploited in a battle, as well as the environment they’re in. He’d hardly be the one to start a fight, but if one were to engage him to fight, they’d find that he is recklessly aggressive, tanking even fatal hits if it so means he can dish out a bigger hit or a finishing blow on you. And with his Undo power, this recklessness is oftentimes rewarded, but not always. While on the surface he seems honorable, he can and will fight dirty if the odds are stacked against him, be it he getting sand in an opponent’s eyes, striking in a weak spot to stun opponents, or even using the environment as a weapon (breaking something to set off a domino effect of trapping, injuring and even killing the opponent). He hardly backs down from a fight, but the rare cases he does, he uses the Time Baseball to freeze an enemy in time and flee, giving himself time to think of a plan B. All in All, he won’t fight if he doesn’t need to, but if he’s threatened or challenged, he’s not about to lose, no matter what he has to do to accomplish a victory.

"Undo": The most powerful ability in Maco’s arsenal, The Clock Eye can revert and “undo” Any fatal or seriously inconvenient wounds Maco receives. This includes limb loss, fatal/mortal stab or bullet wounds, decapitation, heavy and deep scratches, and removal of organs. That being said, there are some downsides to this power: Great power comes with Great Responsibility, after all. For one, Unless he is killed or rests, broken bones and other internal wounds will not be healed via Undo. It also won’t undo mild injuries like cuts, bruises and scrapes, meaning there's still a chance of wound accumulation. Not to mention, the Threshold for what counts as a fatal wound that can be undone is rather tight: Any wound that takes longer than 2 hours to kill him will kill him, with no interference from the eye. As a double whammy, The Eye itself is a weak point on Maco. Damage to it affects his abilities. (Time Baseball would be less effective, Undo takes longer to activate, etc.), although thankfully it can heal. Bad news, it’s the slowest healing part of his body, taking days if not weeks to completely fix itself. Likewise, it can also be removed from Maco’s eye socket. The consequence of this is…severe. If it gets removed, he suffers all the deaths and injuries he’s averted with Undo, which given how it undoes Fatal wounds…Means pretty much instant death.
He’d be lucky if any part of him remained after that.

Other:

-Birthday: 12/18/85 at 11:58 PM

-Absolutely hates it when people call him short (or another word for it), and will get pissed off if you do.

-Curses a lot, even in front of children.

-While he seems to have hatred for it, he still talks to the Entity on occasion...often times in private, to avoid being seen as crazy.

-He has an eyepatch he wears over the clock eye when attending anything fancy, like a party or a date.

-Has died so many times he can frankly describe in detail what Death looks like. Spoiler alert, Death is not very good looking.

-Basically is a hitman of sorts, hired by Penny. Despite the boss-employee relationship they have, Penny doesn't always pay him (due to her lack of understanding on the concept of money), resulting in him not having the best of living conditions.

-In the early days of getting his eye, Maco got addicted to painkillers due to trying to numb pain it caused him initially. He did luckily get help for it but nowadays he just kinda unhealthily forces himself to just deal with pain without anything to numb it cause he's worried he'll relapse.

-Because of some "Chosen one" nonsense, Penny usually shows up in his dreams trying to convince him to do certain things that'll push forward the quest. He doesn't like her that much, and sometimes does the opposite of what she wants to spite her.

-Isn't scared so easily by jumpscares or horror antics in general cause his friends (some of whom were absolute scaredy cats) kept dragging him along to watch horror films with them.

-Macovenom is an online name he often goes by. It's also the name he'll usually introduce himself with.

-His shirt was a gag gift from a few friends after he posted a video under his online username. The necklace, however, was something from his late mother. it's very important to him.
