A long time ago, at the beginning of humanity, four were chosen to regulate the supernatural in relation to mankind. The Scribe of Winter, who records with the Book of the Darkened Moon. The Maiden of Spring, who Cultivates with the Staff of the Planting Moon. The Prince of Summer, who Manages with the Crown of the Growing Moon.
And the Knight. The Warrior, the Defender, wielding the Blade of the Harvest Moon. The Knight of Autumn is perhaps the most important of these, as the defender of humanity, and the protector of individual humans. There is a real possibility that without the appearance of Knights at crucial points, the human race would have been extinguished or made cattle by any number of supernatural entities.
Many have carried the mantle of Knight of Autumn over the years, including most recently Quincy Morris, who struck down Dracula. And now, earlier in life than almost any before her, Jennifer Brown.
Jennifer was born in 2002 in the small Oregon town of Bedford Falls, to River and Collin Brown. Her early childhood was uneventful, she had a good relationship with her parents and her grandparents back on the reservation, as well as very good grades throughout elementary. She always had an obsession with cryptozoology and folklore, often in an almost worryingly practical capacity. Early incidents included salting the doorway to her bedroom to keep out ghosts and leaving milk out for Brownies. It wasn't until Middle School, though, that her interest became truly practical.
She had been researching and putting on airs about "hunting" the mysterious "Beast of Bedford Wood" for some time at this point, but at age 12, that theoretical knowledge became practical, when she saved her crush from said Beast, and became the first in a very long time to come out of an encounter with Lizzie unscathed.
After that, Monster Hunting became a way of life for her, often taking on hunts under the pretense of staying over at Chris' house. She also saved Chris from a number of other monsters over that time, but over all that time, she never managed to truly end the monster for whom she had the most ire: The Beast of Bedford Wood herself, Lizzie. After a particularly tough hunt, one in which she actually had to enlist Lizzie's aid, she learned of her grand destiny, and received the tool of her station. The Blade of the Harvest Moon.
Time will tell how she will fill her role, but in the meantime, there are other forces interested in the newly awakened Knight, forces both friendly and foul. Forces including the defenders of the world that the last Knight left in his stead, but also including the very threat to life itself that she was called to defend against.
