Language Translations for Creation

Posted 4 years, 6 months ago (Edited 2 years, 7 months ago) by Dez

Hey! I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but I think it'd be cool to have a place for bilingual people to translate some cool phrases or words for creations. Personally I'm looking to see if someone can correctly translate "You can't handle the truth" from English to Latin.

I'm not bilingual myself, unfortunately, but maybe others who want correct translations can build this post up and help each other.

So what kinds of things do you want translated for your creations and how do you use them? I like using phrases or words to create names or locations :)

Edit: Wow, this post blew up more than I originally thought it would! From now on, I'll try to list the languages and the users that speak said languages below to make it easier for others to find the proper person they need! If there's any problems at all with what's listed, please let me know and I'll change it ASAP. If there are languages that are together that the native speakers suggest be separated, please also let me know! I don't want to offend anyone and I don't know much about different languages (but I'm learning a lot from everyone). Thank you to everyone for your assistance!

If anyone wants to know anything specific to translate, please ping in the forum someone from the list under the correct language. There are many people with many skills who have offered their time to help :)

Please try to keep things PG13, as there may be minors present. Also if anyone in the list wishes to be removed from it for any reason, please let me know! I will do so with no questions asked.

Dez

NathanU Thanks for assisting! Japanese was always really hard for me to learn, so I wish you the best of luck! Maybe others here will be able to help you learn as well :)

Fluffu_Z Oh wow, thanks. I...I think I got all that @_@ Lmao that's impressive! Not often I meet people that can translate so much. Thanks for joining!

nyainou :0 I'm so curious, what game is it? Always happy to see people willing to translate things. It's nice to experience different media from Japan that never makes a debut here.

thvnvtxs It's regulated!? I had no idea there were languages like that. How do you regulate a language? Is it like...made illegal to use specific terms or is it just strict rules? That's so interesting, I'm curious! Thank you for sharing this information, it's something I've never even thought of...

Dez

nyainou :0 That's really cool! It must be really interesting and fun to work with others like that. Might even learn from them as well! I wish you all the best in your translations :)

Rownie Welcome! Maybe we can get miss_samychan to help you out? :) Especially on possible unique German phrases, I'd be interested as well :0 There's one word I asked someone awhile back on that was kinda funny to me, but they explained it much better, so maybe you can find something like that as well, Rownie :)

Edit: Page 14 (at least on my comp) has me asking the question to Miyako if you're interested in that insult lmao. It was really interesting to learn XD

Dez

miss_samychan Info updated! Also added that people can DM you since you specified it :) Thank you so much for your help! The information you shared is so valuable! It's greatly appreciated :)

Dez

Rownie No problem! Glad you were able to get some help :)

Fehn

I'm trying to put together a volunteer cleanup in my neighborhood and I made a little flier, but I want to have one side english and one side spanish so nobody gets left out. I know I could probably just throw it in google translate, but I don't really trust it and I don't want to look like an idiot in front of my neighbors lol

This is the text I need translated:

"Bonita" means "Beautiful"

Bonita Springs Volunteer Cleanup

Saturday, July 17th

from 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Wear a bright color and meet us at the Riverside Park Fountain!

We will provide trash bags, gloves, and sunscreen- feel free to bring anything else you may need.

Bring your friends and neighbors!

(Bonita Springs is the name of the city, and Riverside Park is a specific park name, so I imagine those would stay the same...
also idk if the "bonita means beautiful" thing is dumb... I was just asked to make it inviting lmao idk why I'm doing. should I ditch that? would a spanish speaker laugh at it?)

Any help is very much appreciated! Feel free to respond here or PM if that's easier.
Not sure if I'm supposed to tag one person or all of them so I'll just do a few? @mono sixofswords salida MagicaeDraco NathanU

Oh, seems like @mono is gone. Not sure if they have a new username but I figured I'd mentioned it so you can update your list ^^
