Oh just have seen this now :0
I can help with Brazilian Portuguese (pt-BR) since I'm a native speaker!
I'm not 100% fluent in English yet but I can help with En -> pt-BR too c:
Hey! I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but I think it'd be cool to have a place for bilingual people to translate some cool phrases or words for creations. Personally I'm looking to see if someone can correctly translate "You can't handle the truth" from English to Latin.
I'm not bilingual myself, unfortunately, but maybe others who want correct translations can build this post up and help each other.
So what kinds of things do you want translated for your creations and how do you use them? I like using phrases or words to create names or locations :)
Edit: Wow, this post blew up more than I originally thought it would! From now on, I'll try to list the languages and the users that speak said languages below to make it easier for others to find the proper person they need! If there's any problems at all with what's listed, please let me know and I'll change it ASAP. If there are languages that are together that the native speakers suggest be separated, please also let me know! I don't want to offend anyone and I don't know much about different languages (but I'm learning a lot from everyone). Thank you to everyone for your assistance!
If anyone wants to know anything specific to translate, please ping in the forum someone from the list under the correct language. There are many people with many skills who have offered their time to help :)
Please try to keep things PG13, as there may be minors present. Also if anyone in the list wishes to be removed from it for any reason, please let me know! I will do so with no questions asked.

I think the bonita means beautiful thing does sound kinda silly for the spanish version so I'd just leave that out. I couldn't come with any replacement puns, sorry.
*lands like Iron Man*

Voluntariado de Limpieza de Bonita Springs
Sábado 17 de Julio
De 9:00am a 11:00am
¡Lleve puesta ropa de color claro y véanos en la fuente de Riverside Park!
Proveeremos bolsas de basura, guantes y protector solar - usted es libre de traer cualquier otra cosa que necesite.
¡Invite a sus amigos y vecinos!
Though Spanish speakers seem to now be using gender-inclusive language, where instead of "amigos y vecinos" it would instead be something like "amigues y vecines" when referring to friends and neighbors in general. Or alternatively you could replace the O's with @'s
And as for the "Bonita means beautiful" part, I say you could add "let's make it so" or something like that
Fehn That's really cool! :0 I hope everything goes well. I'm sorry about pinging some people, I'm not usually informed when they change their names or if something goes on ._.' I greatly apologize for that
Nifffi NathanU Thank you both for your contribution :)
Classy-Cat :0 Thank you so much for offering! I'll be sure to add you :)
@niffi NathanU thank you both so much!
One quick question- is there a word for "bright" instead of "light" that would make sense? I'm hoping people will come in like... bright yellow, bright green, etc. If not it's fine! <3
Nifffi sorry mistag!
Fehn The translation for bright is 'brillante', but it doesn't have the exact same applications, and in this context this word sounded kinda awkward/ambiguous to me. I used 'colorido' (colorful) in my translation, which conveys the same and it sounded a bit more natural.
You could also replace it with 'color intenso' if you want to be really specific so, 'traigan puesto algo de color intenso'.
Just gonna set this here for anyone who may be interested

Nifffi thanks! This is why I came here instead of google translate xD Who knows what I'd come up with lol
Fehn np! tbf google translate is pretty decent for english-spanish. Generally translations are correct or at least understandable, but they tend to sound somewhat awkward due to different preferences in wording/phrasing.
Just dropping in to say: DeepL is better than Google Translate (still not perfect, but better). It doesn't have as many languages but if you want to quickly translate something and/or don't care too much about the details, I'd recommend it.
ktensai I can attest to that. I use it when I wanna translate, say, dialog from a comic that's in Japanese
Hello! I've actually got a question about how to read a name. I've been working on translating a comic that had it's official translation dropped, like. 10+ years ago now. It's Japanese to English, which I'm currently studying, but there is a character with a Chinese name I've been stumped on because I'm incredibly unfamiliar with naming conventions and pronunciation in that department.
When he's first introduced, his name is written differently across a few pages. The first time, his name is written in katakana as ウーディーン [Ūdīn]. Which I figured might suggest something like "Wu" at the beginning?
The old official translation wrote this as “Yaoding," however.
The second time, his name is written as 劉天頂
The furigana next to it reads リウ・ウーディーン [Liu Ūdīn].
The official translation here was Liu Yaoding.
Based on the pronunciation the furigana suggests though, I've been incredibly confused as to where that may be coming from? The closest I was able to think of, at the suggestion of DeepL, was Liu Wujing---but DeepL also has other suggestions as well. They're ones that stray relatively far from what the katakana is suggesting, however.
If anyone could help out here or explain, I'd be very appreciative! Thank you! And apologies if anything is super incorrect here. All I've got on this was was DeepL, and names are a bit different.
