For the knight quest: The Royal Academy: Initiation

406 words (excluding headlines)

"I just wanted to make new friends my age this year..."

"You must understand the importance of protecting a noble's bloodline. As such, I'm assigning you to a number of adolescents and young adults as their teaching guard. You are to keep watch over these young nobles while also going over several intensive training sessions that will help shape the youth into honorable royal leaders," a red-suit pouflon lectured.

"Yes sir," Snyder responded to his new superior. It was an unplanned occurrence, but by some chain of events, Snyder was preparing to take on what he had mistaken for a mere teaching job.

"It is then you must hold a sustainable amount of royal service within yourself. You mustn't let your mind stray to think you anything near to a peasant," his captain commanded.

"Yes sir, I understand."

"You are one worthy of educating nobility. You are one of much brave heart to protect your students with no reluctance should threats appear to hurt them early on."

"I am worthy, brave, and unhesitating to doing what I need to do to defend these young nobles."

"Hm, very good. Now Snyder, see to getting the correct attire from the nearby tailor I've appointed to you."

"Please why, why, why? Why this happen like this?"

Snyder's chest stopped pounding when his captain said "tailor" instead of "shop". If Snyder had to go to another blasted clothing shop that month, his papa would surely have sent a rescue party for him again. Although all confidence was non-existent for a majority of the instructions given to him, Snyder was sure to the highest degree that he could get his outfit!

A week later, Snyder was all dressed for the part, but the ruffled cuffs could barely handle the drenching from his ankles. He was being crumbled by the very thought of meeting a child. It wasn't too long ago he was a child himself, and yet this "noble" status made the children Snyder would meet ever so intimidating. The first towering child he was to serve opened a big hickory door.

There was no one other than this child at the doorway, and yet it seemed the child was comfortable with eating a sugar cookie in front of Snyder. "You might be the individual that must bring much change to the future of this world, I presume?" this bloom directed at Snyder after finishing another bite of his cookie.

Snyder blinked twice. Future... of this world? What sort of terrible burden did Snyder put upon himself taking on this feat?
