Seeing as Shadow was the most wanted and elusive criminal in all of Kingscardine, Auris expected his hideout cave to be something to behold. In reality it was just a cave. Shabby, dark and damp in some places.

Shadow strutted around proudly, showing him around. Here’s some weird mushrooms growing on a wall, watch out for the bats, here’s a nice rock I like to sleep on. Auris’ ears drooped. He wasn’t quite regretting joining up with the vigilante, but he sure would miss his neat bedroom and his comfortable bed.

They went further in. The cave started with a big opening hidden by very old, fallen trees and growing shrubbery. Then it split into few smaller tunnels, most of which led the same way, into a very large open space. The walls and the ground were a mix of smooth stone and dirt with stalactites and stalagmites growing from the ceiling and the ground. A single light shone through a small opening at the top. It illuminated everything, but wasn’t the only light source. Many of the rocks had the same red rune quite crudely drawn on them. It resembles a flame and glowed with dim light, giving the cave a mysterious and a bit eerie look. Everything was overgrown with vines and mushrooms of various types, none of which Auris recognised.

- So, what do you think? - Shadow sat down and nodded with his head towards the center of the place. He had a satisfied look on his face.

Auris smiled softly.

- Reminds me of home.
