During dusk when everything is calm and quiet the world seems especially empty. Everything seems distant, as if it was separated from her by a river or a chasm that she cannot cross. All she can do is watch from the bank and observe the busting life, not allowed to become a part of it.

Akumu plays a tough and confident lioness and most of the time that’s how she feels. But during those silent, lonely nights she comes back with her memories to her past. Her childhood and the day she was abandoned. She thinks of the plans she had and what came of them. She found some companions that accepted her, even admired, but they were never friends. They only took her in because she was useful. Now, she had a pride, but she still does not feel a part of it. Not quite s stranger, but not one of them either.

There are times when she wishes she could cross that river separating her from the world of others, filled with trust, happiness and families, but every time she fails. She keeps up her persona and tries to be mysterious, impressive and intimidating. By doing so she keeps increasing the distance between her and others, though she does not do it consciously.

As she’s watching her pride members make new friends, fall in love, make families, she stays alone, separate, as if in a world of her own. Deep down she wished that one day she can join them. Alas, she does not know how.
