These are species of Familiar originally created and designed by the scientists of the Academy and Facility's labs, usually with the intent of becoming companion animals to Companions (and to other people, of course ;D). Except where mentioned, these critters are generally even tempered and docile, do well with kids, and want nothing more than to find a good, loving home!
Whenever there are spare Familiars available, they are often given as pets to Younglings and Ados at the Academy to help foster a sense of responsibility, as well as provide them with additional emotional support and companionship. Mentors are partially responsible for ensuring pets in their pods are being cared for properly. The Academy does also adopt out/sell these creatures to the public for money, and they can be custom ordered by those with the cash.
Current Agency created familiars include: Dandies, Draphinieles, Hippogryphons, Monarks, Pealokeets, Phealisks, Rosents, StarCats and the Weedy Sea Otters
Valcorp Familiars are species of pets originally designed and created by the scientists of Valcorp, usually with the intent of selling them to the public for profit. They regularly take custom orders for high prices, and staff members ensure most premade and custom pets are pre-trained with a number of basic commands. Occasionally, a Familiar will be given to a Companion for experimental purposes, but it is not common.
Valcorp has had some problems with Familiar escapes in the past, and a great many of these critters have been found roaming the streets of Silverbrook - especially Venumouflies.
Because of the number of Familiars that have escaped and ended up at the Academy, the AAA scientists have figured out how to create these creatures themselves. So your character can obtain these from the Academy, not just from Valcorp, but they are primarily produced by Valcorp.
Current Valcorp Familiars include: the Venumouflies, Wofoli and Snooples.
Please note that these are only the 'official' pet species created by the Anima and Valcorp labs - other pet species do exist in the world of AAA, both in the form of approved user-run adoptables and regular ordinary pets.
Familiar Events, Breeding Seasons, and Customs will be available fairly frequently through Blue and Star. Other users are also welcome to take Familiar coloring commissions or hold giveaways/events for any non-Limited species if they choose (though keep in mind when pricing that either the artist or the owner must pay the per-use fee on Uncommon and Rare Familiars). All Official Familiars must have AAAStaff credited as their Creator.
Common Species
Common Familiar species have PSD files that are open source. Simply dowload the PSD, color yourself as many as your heart desires, free of charge, and submit them as characters to the World. No line edits are allowed without prior approval.
