Due to our world having many more species of humanoid than the Earth we live on, there have been some historical differences that we felt needed to be addressed for continuity and world immersion.
No "England"
The Elven nation is located where the British Isles are. Instead of the sovereign nation of England we have Raganruat and the Elven Kingdoms. These have replaced England, Ireland, and Scotland in our world. The Elven kingdom used to span over much of Europe, but as their numbers dwindled, so too did their hold on most of the land. Humans, however, who multiplied in abundance, easily took holdings of their own and now control most of the world.
Elves used humans as servants and slave labor. Many humans eventually fled the Elven kingdoms and came to America. The Revolutionary War still occurred, and America still won her freedom and was still settled as a democratic nation. The big historical difference was the motivation for freedom and the enemy.
Architectural differences can be seen in America due to the Elven influence of her forefathers. For a time America even considered a more aristocratic system of government before turning away from it. Some early important families were given titles of Duke and Lord and the like, but those titles soon fell out of fashion.
Due to the decadence of the Elven nation, and their tumultuous shared history, America and the Elven Kingdoms are now in a strained alliance, unlike the rather friendly alliance that we share with our world's England.
As a nation for peoples who fled oppression and slavery, America once had a fairly open immigration policy, and saw her fair share of immigrants from races all over the world looking for refuge for one reason or another. In recent years, however, America has been accepting fewer and fewer people for permanent residency.
Mermaids in the Water
The Liberi homelands are located off of the coast of Italy in the Mediterranean, as well as in the Great Barrier Reef off of Australia. Due to these places being seen as sacred homelands to the Liberi people, there has been far less erosion to the Barrier Reef, and the health of the oceans of this world is in better shape. These caretakers take their jobs very seriously.
Liberi do not take kindly to people who threaten their environment. Commercial sailing and fishing is still a very dangerous task in this world because of it. If you have not spoken with the proper people, or you break any of the accords set into place by the Liberi, it is likely your vessel will not make it back to land.
There are theories and myths that the Lost City of Atlantis was actually destroyed by the Liberi and sunk into the sea because their technology threatened their homeland.
Ring of Fire/ Indonesia
The warm climate of Indonesia is an ideal homeland for the Drow race. These ashen skinned peoples are native to this climate. Some believe that Drow were Elves that survived the Pompeii disaster, but it forever turned their skin ashen. The Drow themselves do not at all hold to these rumors, and indeed many consider them heresy, as their own lore proclaims themselves to be superior to all other races by far.
Drow have historically been a very insular people. They have stayed mostly out of all major world events and keep to themselves unless forced. Most people treat Drow with suspicion and fear. It is only in recent times that have the Drow nations have started voicing their views on the world stage.
