Residents of the Middle

MIDDLE RESIDENTS

The Vipers of the Middle Sands

The residents of The Middle more closely resemble the wolves we know than any of the other natives. They are mostly well-mannered & somewhat meek, but they’re extremely hardy. Healthy in terms of physical & mental health, their biggest setback is the environment they live in.

Most of the families in The Middle have paws that are covered in extremely thick fur to prevent both burns from the sand and freezing in the snow. Their pads are almost buried in that fur and they often leave no distinguishable pawprints.

The residents of The Middle have normal wolf teeth, unlike their neighbours.

They sometimes eat various plant roots and fruits; meaning that they carry a more omnivorous diet than the usual canine. Hunting is a dangerous task in the woods of The Middle, which is why weaker individuals have resolved to eating plants & passed the habit down generations.

The Middleners are the biggest community of natives which can be considered semi-fluent in the First Tongue; while the younger generations tend to know less and less, it isn't uncommon for those who seek knowledge to speak the long-forgotten language.

Notable Families

Bilel

A family that resides in The Middle, specifically Chara Desert - they have inhabited the safe haven for years. They're known for being intense theists - they hail all the new gods. Rumour has it, they're the cause for most of the evil that resides in The Middle - but this is mostly just ages old gossip.

They're a very tightly-knit family and most of them never move away from their home.

Aranovi

A family that comes from Emberbird Mountain, hardened by life and lacking the protection that the desert sands hold. They're known for being extremely secretive, small in numbers. Even though recently, a daughter named Aigel tried to merge the family with the Bilels, most of them still reside in the outskirts of the mountain.
