Franklin Alatamaha

an absolutely nasty piece of work. franklin is a phooka, and certainly hasn’t heard that those can be benevolent creatures, as well. his earlier life started as simple mischief, blending in with people’s livestock to get a rise out of them, or stealing away bits and pieces of their food. but this was only the start. mischief turned to malice, and the people of the countryside could no longer brush off his acts as mischief. he left fields barren, injured those who wandered at night, and reduced beloved pets to red stains. it’s uncertain what pushed franklin to needless acts of cruelty; curiosity, perhaps. just to see what he could get away with. needless to say, he was chased out, and people made sure he stayed out.

one would think being judged harshly and facing the consequences of his actions would give him a little change of heart. it in fact, did not. this would assume that franklin has a conscience, or a sense of compassion. he would plague the roadside where people hadn’t heard of him yet, tricking them out of their belongings or sending them to their doom. this was but his trial period of becoming a master of manipulation and subterfuge. 

franklin had to flee once more, and even his shapeshifting ability couldn’t get him out of this mess. he would have to flee, somewhere he couldn’t be tracked. but he had to make a living, too. the uncharted lands were the perfect spot for a slippery little bastard like him. he started running a “shop”, one that sold materials from rare magical beasts, or directions on where to find one. make no mistake, franklin is a powerful being. he is perfectly capable of slaying those creatures, and sometimes he does! but… well, plan on being ripped off. it‘s a real gamble.

he is not all cruelty, though. the world is lucky that franklin’s secondary trait is laziness. he has no interest in leaving bloodbaths behind, for the hassle it would bring. a capricious creature, how you walk away from an encounter with him is entirely up to his mood. or how strong you are. he doesn’t want any trouble, no sirree!
