Nkisi Muduma

the great ancestor of all naga. nkisi mudama is an elusive, reclusive god, that hides away behind the waterfall of its lake until one of its children requires it. nkisi created the species of naga centuries ago, in an effort to get humans to stop killing the vipers of the rainforest. it figured that in order to gain mercy, the snakes would have to learn to speak, and live like men do. in a way, this was a success, and naga, though flourishing in their own respective territories, enjoyed peace living alongside other sapient species. they would come to travel across continents, lingering particularly around the mediterranean and southern asia. though well beyond its reach, nkisi still loves all its children dearly, and regularly yearns for their company. 

nkisi mudama is a benevolent, yet incredibly nosy god. any naga that inhabit its territory will come to find that it is incredibly demanding of attention, whether it be offerings, company, devotional songs, or involvement in births, marriages and funerals. should it be ignored in these events, the god will become uppity, and bother their worshippers with mild plagues until pleased once again. really, nkisi mudama has a lot of nerve being this bossy, considering it does nothing but sleep all day.
