"THE NIGHT SWALLOWS US"

A pitch black aberration, vaguely corvid in appearance
It keeps its large, bright eyes closed, and tends to turn its face away from onlookers
Has an unusually wide mouth, packed full of glowing teeth
Hangs in the air like a stormcloud with its mouth gaped open
- It speaks in throaty whispers, without moving its mouth
- It's capable of producing a loud CAW, but only does so if it's especially upset.
Its "feathers" are similar to thick black smoke, and wisps of its body cling to anything or anyone that gets close enough to it

Pathological liar, often tells obvious lies for no discernible reason
Evasive, dodgy, deflects most attempts at conversation or contact
Insatiably curious, craves knowledge and understanding
- Often follows people around so it can learn more about them without having to interact with them
Endlessly seeks out the unknown, strives to understand more and more

Watching, listening, observing from afar
Deep shadows, where it feels safest
Thick smoke and brooding stormclouds, where Prophet can dissolve into the darkness and disappear

A question it cannot answer
- They are few and far between, but that just makes it more maddening when one appears
Clear, bright skies and sunny days, which make it feel exposed
Being focused on and given unwanted attention - it's guaranteed to make it dart away at its first opportunity

Claims to know every truth there is, but refuses to tell anyone about them
Vibrates constantly, not enough to look like a pronounced shiver, but enough to appear blurry at close range
Sheds little black specks wherever it goes, which float gently through the air before vanishing
Has been known, rarely, to speak with those who offer it its favorite food - cinnamon
At night, it is often surrounded by a small group of fireflies
