Zava

a little oddball of a mawuust. most of the times, the mawuust are solitary outside of autumn, but zava chose to stay with one of her friends, lest the waters drive them apart. you see, when zava and malar hatched in the same lake, it did not take long for the school to figure out that malar was blind. when the two of them were to come of age, malar would be expected to swim off on her own, as all her peers would. 

zava could not bear to leave her friend on her own, and so, she swore to stay by her side. 

… but even then, malar proved to be quite competent. relying on her antennae, she was perfectly capable of hunting food on her own, and overall could survive just fine. it appeared that she didn’t need zava at all, but… there was something she admired so about zava, that she cared so deeply for her that she was willing to defy instinct and face the scorn of her fellow kind, that they grew incredibly close. 

but even then, zava is an incredibly shy person, despite having chosen to retain social bonds. a girl with poor self esteem, and prefers to stay away from those other than malar. to land-walking creatures she may become outright hostile, and has little interest in whatever goes on in the wide world. despite her deeprooted kindness and care, zava can actually be quite mean! but don’t worry, unless you somehow manage to dip your feet into the exact lake the two fish girls live in, you’ll probably be fine.
