Profile

a pile of catholic guilt in a trenchcoat. the result of the coincidental union between a young human, donna, and an incubus. caleb’s mother was in a particularly rough spot at the time, having moved from her parents’ house to seek independency in her late teens, but upon her accidental pregnancy found she couldn’t make ends meet. and so, caleb was born back in his mother’s hometown, and met with some… less than kind circumstances. you see, the bradshaw family was particularly, tenaciously catholic, and the only way donna was going to get back in was to accept her faith back. needless to say, when a young incubus was born, the two were in for a world of trouble.

the two of them had it rough, but despite it all, caleb was close with his mother. she showed him ways to be kind through the faith, and above all, fostered love for her fellow people. caleb grew up much the same, despite the scorn from the rest of his family. the two of them fled back to the city when caleb grew a little older, and they spent the rest of caleb’s youth scraping by. rejection lead him to develop a certain shyness, becoming prudish, perhaps — hoping to use his faith to avoid the purpose he would have to fulfill as an incubus. he aimed to be almost saintlike, to deny himself even the simplest pleasures of the flesh, but striving for happiness for others. it was his unrelenting kindness that lead him to want to build his own congregation, and become an ordained priest, in the hopes to foster a warmer community that he had known.

some way or another, caleb found his way more north along the east coast and to new york, where he felt people could use a little community. what better place to find sin, indulgence, and loneliness, than in the big city? his goal had mixed success, but he found himself popular among the needy for his generosity, warm personality, and genuine care for others. perhaps it barely brought bread to his table, and housing was never stable, but luxury and comfort were never quite part of his future vision. perhaps destructively so, caleb is a selfless person, and quite the doormat.

unexpectedly, perhaps shamefully, caleb found himself falling in love with one of the least likely people on earth. josel morris, a completely unapologetically viracious man, and later too, an angel. perhaps a holy creature, whose approval he would be desperately seeking for 24/7, wasn’t the best idea for a partner, but… he’ll go to therapy… eventually…

in his free time, caleb enjoys poetry. outside of service, confessionals and house-visits, caleb has a surprising amount of free time, and finds himself frequently daydreaming. even a man like him has dreams, simple ones, like floating in a little boat out at sea, the sun on his face, listening to the waves… what a life that would be, to have such peace! but one he doesn’t see himself fulfilling anytime soon. mostly because boats are surprisingly expensive. he checked.
