After being at odds with her music and identity her entire pre-mortem life, Maddie falls face first into joining a girl band named UFO girls post-mortem, only to realize her true passion as a rapper thanks to her best friend Brad. In leaving UFOGirls, it spiraled into obscurity, and ended up dissolving due to internal conflict.
UFOGirls was a space age 60's themed girl group started on earth2 in the mid 2000s by Avril and Kristen fresh out of rehab. In the beginning years of the band the members would be in and out, and as a result they could not make music consistently enough to make many releases. Once Maddie left and it was decided that there was to be a new member of the band, UFOgirls struggled to stay afloat financially while also having to deal with the new girl in town: Alia, who vowed to discreetly swoop the fame right out from below Avril's cold dead feet. Even through tons of internal turmoil with the remaining members there was only one surefire way they knew to circumvent the band's dissolution: Get Maddie back. Surprise: It doesn't work!
Bad Team Records is a record label originally founded on Earth1 by a questionably rich philanthropist cult famous actor named Adrian "Adie" Boyd. His starring role being as The Sockmaster in Hot Catch's 1973 music movie "The Glam Snag: A Hot Catch Movie". Adie lost a lot of his wealth in his death after the whole world found out about his money laundering scheme, but due to some really good news reporting, his record label and similar assets stayed afloat even on Earth2. while there are way less people signed to it than there were pre mortem, one of the most popular attractions they have currently is Alia Otrov, a pretty pop musician from Kansas who moved to Kentucky a few years before her death.
ACIDATA was a famous genre defining hard rock band in the 1980s-1990s from Mystery, KY. Their final tour was their LIFE AFTER DEATH album tour in 1999, where all but one of the members died in a freak tour bus accident. The one survivor, KT, continues on with making appearances as their drummer, and supports Midge, the other surviving band from the crash. People frequently blame them for the accident despite them having nothing to do with it. On earth2 the band still infrequently tours and releases new music. Despite being dead, their following is still relatively immense due to the sheer amount of fame they had in their heyday.
Midge was a relatively small hard rock band from Mystery, KY that flourished locally in the 1990s, and would eventually go on to tour with ACIDATA on their infamous 1999 LIFE AFTER DEATH album tour. Every member survived the crash and as a result of the backlash soon split to do their own solo things.
BR0KKENGLASS is a tribute band based on the member's collective favorite band ACIDATA. Their name comes from an old 80s demo from ACIDATA called "BROKENGLASS". The spelling they decided on was genuinely dependant on the name being availiable as a Tumblr domain name. The band is based entirely on Tumblr and barely has any genuine fans due to people viewing them as cringe. They are best friends with Kit and Willow of Kitten Kaboodle and open for them a lot. The three of them have a genuine passion for music, and are determined to do whatever it takes to "make it" and prove that their music deserves to exist because it means something.
Kitten Kaboodle is a duo made up of two dating teens Kit and Willow. They make mellow electronic music akin to Stereolab. The two of them have a relatively large teen audience from their school and try to help their friends in BR0KKENGLASS make it as musicians too even despite their extremely large genre difference.
Rude Hatch is a folk duo consisting of two people who were never able to truly make a name for themselves when alive: Camille Laurent , and Juliet "Jules" Steinbeck. They met post mortem in a coffee shop during a folk set and started to talk about their life long love of music. This culminated in the creation of their folk duo project RUDE HATCH. It takes a lot of inspiration from Jules' favorite musicians on MySpace, as well as Camille's friends in the 90s SF music scene.
Hot Catch was a glam rock band from Mystery Kentucky that was famous for its quick startup and young bass player Yvonne, who, in 1967 when the band was founded, was only 13. as the band grew, their visions and identities drifted from eachother and eventually the band fully disbanded due to the deaths of the 2 male members; Rob in '76 and Duke in '77. due to the quick passings of the two there was a lot of controversy about what happened to them.
Despite this Yvonne and Veronika continued to make music together under the name Checkya until their eventual deaths in the late 80s of drug related causes. On Earth2 they are basically retired legends with a cult following. Their popularity level is akin to The Beatles.
Quantum Impulse was a wild west themed glam rock band based out of Mystery, KY that toured with Hot Catch for their world tour in 1973. The band came to a tragic end in 1974 with the murder-suicide of Ramone Westwood at the hands of Bruce Quinn, his best friend and secret lover. In the afterlife they are still together despite all the odds. The two remaining band members Cerise Law and Tim Mattingly retired from music altogether and live their lives completely removed from Quantum Impulse sans from small meetup type events annually, usually to raise money for a good cause.
Due to the shocking nature of their disbanding a lot of people are obsessed with their music, creating what is now a cult-like following.
Shortcake was a 1990s girl group that released several chart topping hits before fading into obscurity until the late 2000s when they planned a comeback with all original members which was generally considered a flop musically and financially
Pronounced "CAN-STINE". The name is derived from the last names of the two members, Kanai and Steinbeck. Kanstein is a punk rock group created post mortem between former Achievilments lead Kikuo Kanai, and Rude Hatch lead Jules Steinbeck. This band was Kikuo's first step back into the music scene after abandoning it in the late 90s due to the death of his best friend and largest inspiration Camille Laurent. After Kikuo's death, he was able to see Camille again and became aquainted with her friend Jules who he would go on to create Kanstein with.
Achievilments was a band founded in 1991 by Kikuo and his friends who he met during a media program in California. They released several albums in their active years from 1991 to 1998. After the death of his best friend Camille he gave up entirely on music and left California to retreat back to his family home in Wisconsin until he got his shit together.
