Companion Basics for Newbies

Companions are the scientifically created human/animal hybrid creatures present in this universe. They can range anywhere in design from your classic mostly-humanoid Kemonomimi type human-with-animal-ears-and-a-tail creatures (we call these Normals), to furries/anthros (Demis), to more monster like Companions like Centaurs, Nagas, and Mers (know to AAA as Metas), or whatever else you can imagine! We also have a number of plant hybrids (known as Viridi) which often have green blood and scleras.

"Animal" species for Companions can range extremely broadly, from as simple and common as a house cat, to as rare as a dinosaur, or as complicated as a multi-species chimera, or as out-there as a dragon or even a Pokemon. As long as they obey the laws of pseudo-science and can't do actual magic, then they fit here just fine! As you can imagine, a lot of different characters and designs can fit under the Companion umbrella, and with the former closed-species restrictions removed, any human-animal hybrid looking character you have can be played in this World as a Companion.

When they're young and still genetically unstable, Companions are required to wear a collar to help constantly monitor their vitals and location, administer some medications, and tranquilize them as needed to help keep them safe. These collars come in three different varieties which also serve as visual indicators of personality and overall danger level.

Domestic tags are generally for docile, outgoing, or friendly personalities and low-danger species, and indicate a Companion that is unlikely to hurt you. For example, Esmond may look rather odd, but his Domestic tag lets you know he's really quite friendly!

Stray tags are typically for more introverted, withdrawn, or subdued Companions. They don't lash out often, but may be more difficult to raise than a happy Domestic. Strays aren't usually outright dangerous unless pushed (just like anyone else). Alexi is a good example of a Stray Companion - a Sea Slug with a bit of an attitude.

Wilds are for Companions that are either physically more capable of doing someone harm (poisonous, long claws, sharp teeth, big scary animal species, uniquely dangerous in some manner), have more violent/angry personalities or tendencies, or some combination of these traits. Wilds are generally considered harder or more dangerous to raise than Domestics or Strays. A good example of a Wild is Ashanti!

At adulthood Companions are considered genetically stable, and their collars may be removed.
