Spooked

“Be careful now, you’re sure you can see out of the sheet, right?” Vyes asked, rearranging the mostly white sheet over his young one who was just unable to hold still to fix it for more than a few seconds.

The young warpa’s feet and tail were still visible under the torn at the bottom sheet, and the outline did give away who was under it, but Raz wanted to go ‘be a ghost’ with Artemis this evening before halloween really set in. Young in both body and mind, it was a wonder Raz’s face often spoke something so different.

“Yes dad, I can see just fine. Do I look spooky?” He asked, tail wiggling slowly, waiting for that answer he hoped to be a yes.

“Of course, only the spookiest of ghost sheets. You have your sweater on under there too, right?” Maybe it was just a part of his parental role to worry, but that wasn’t about to stop the taller and buffer male.

“Yeeeeeees dad, it’s just another adventure with Arty. We’ll be back before it even gets too cold.”

“Alright, off you go then...” Though he wanted to keep Raz a little more, out of the corner of his eye he saw Artemis just waiting, already dressed as well.

Watching Raz run off, he had doubts that Raz could see well out of it as he stopped short after a moment before slowly walking towards the voice of the excited Artemis. So happy to be dressed up in similar costumes, they were bound to scare someone.

Someone who came while they were just being excited, the King’s husband and also Artemis’s father (Cortez if he recalled right). Minding his own business and more than likely lost in thought, he was a perfect good start for the kids who scurried behind a pillar and waited. Jumping out with a lou ‘BOO!’ and Cortez passed, the boney other yelped, fainting on the spot and off the kid went, looking for another victim to claim while Cortez recovered. Waiting for the kids to wander off, Vyes went over after to at least make sure he was fine.

“You doing alright there, Cortez?”

“Y-yes, no need to worry.” Humming to himself, part of him doubted that. Cortez didn’t look like he was about to get back up, soon anyways, so maybe a quick visit to the king would be a good pit stop before he enjoyed the quiet nice before Raz returned home to tell him the tales of what happened when out.
