CREACHER #91. RECYSHELL

ABOUT

"Ecofriendly scavengers, these creachers despise pollution. They build their homes from leftover and wasted byproducts, with a preference for the dead."

TRIVIA

1. Recyshells are nomadic bottom-feeder arthropods who lack natural exoskeleton armor around their torsos, substituting items they've scavenged for the discrepancy.

2. Due to their lack of torso exoskeleton, their middles are incredibly flexible. Their stomachs can be bent and contorted as if they were made of hardened silly-puddy or kneaded eraser. This phenomena rarely causes pain, as the Recyshell frequently stretch before large bouts of exercise, such as chasing after a live meal.

3. While preferring deep-sea environments, Recyshell are only semi-aquatic. They thrive in wetter places, only leaving the water if they deem necessary. If they find an item of interest topside, they will drag it deep into the depths of the Wahou sea. The sea is the only place where the eggs they lay can survive, requiring the water's arcane properties to continue on.

4. Recyshell are incredibly independent, few making colonies only for the purpose of resource management. They frequently eat their own eggs if they believe their lives will be longer or more successful than the lives of their young. However, they do not resist being eaten by one of their own if their time has come. Some Recyshell may even sacrifice themselves to peers if they are injured beyond repair.

5. Recyshell mate by laying unfertilized eggs in piles of nearly dozens every few months and allowing fertilizing Recyshell to find them. Sexual dymorphism rarely occurs among Recyshell, typically based upon counterparts of Earth-realm arthropods they strongly resemble. Most Recyshell are naturally hermaphroditic, able to leg and fertilize eggs. However, it is incredibly difficult for them to fertilize their own eggs due to the energy it requires.

6. If sighted ashore, Mawans are advised to evacuate immediately. People who are too still may be mistaken for dead and eaten alive. These critters prey on the weak, dying, tired, and otherwise vulnerable with little regard for morality, despite not intentionally acting cruel. In fact, they want the fastest and cleanest kill possible, leaving many victims unsuspecting.

7. Can't get away? Distract them with a better target. Deserted gastropod and mollusk homes are bound to be chosen instead, as objects likely will not struggle and may contain leftover nutrients.

8. Recyshell typically choose slow and visibly push-over like prey who are most likely not to put up a fight. Recyshell always look out for themselves first! Some of what they recycle may even be considered theft. They'll micromanage whatever they deem isn't being used properly and take it for themselves, or even give it to another creacher. They care more about proper resource management for everyone than just for themselves, and attack people who litter above all else, regardless of whether or not they're weak prey.
