Terhan Setting Notes (C.UWC4. Bezumida)

Mashter-Potato

Profile

Description
One of the few countries of the United Western Coalition and frequently referred to as 'The Holds' thanks to it's... particularly volatile politics, Bezumida is a curious series of difficult to reach locations. Mostly comprised of an archipelago of islands or the coastlines closest to them, surrounded by borderline lethal rocks, and frequently beset by unfavourable weather conditions. That being said, it's population are steadfast in their life, holding onto their homes and whatever they make claim to with baffling ferocity.

[Themes; Tropical Islands and European Knights]

Noteworthy Settlements

  • La Sentinelle - "Where Bravery Dares", there will always be a debate on which household will claim the title of rulership, thus making their home the defacto capital. La Sentinelle, owned by the Sentinelle Household is the current best contender for the title thanks to their improved relations providing a significant resource advantage over every other known Hold.
  • Tournerecht - "Greatness Though Trial", a cultural centre of Bezumida, Tournerecht holds it's history and traditions stronger then any other territory within the archipelago. And with more then enough funding, they are the hosts for all manners of sports events between all the other Households. From contests of physical strength to mental expertise, and most popularly, the aerial jousting between pilots. While they typically do not enter the competitions themselves, members of the Household 'Tourne' are some of the best trainers households could reasonably ask for.
  • Santa Vizcillia - "Remember the Disgrace", there was once a time where this island was home to a highly respected household within Bezumida, a time when it was known as 'Aragóus'. But after an failed coupe resulted in the dishonourable usage of Anti-Aircraft weapons, every other Household within the archipelagic country violently returned to wipe this disgusting behaviour off their homeland, inadvertently slaying the entire House of Aragón, and having them be replaced by a hastily replacing government of the Household 'Vizcillia'. A household that vigorously carries the honour it's predecessors once broke, and the scars of the war forbidden to be repaired all across Santa Vizcillia even after almost a century.
  • Mortinalus - "Flocks Fly Furthest", one of the largest individual islands of the Bezumidian Archipelago, Mortinalus carries a violent history that has finally had the pleasure of ending with a unity and prosperity. For those who are unfamiliar, Mortinalus' territory was formally split into two halves known as 'Mortaria' and 'Cardinalus', owned by their respective Households. However with the marriage of Rosamund Mortara and Javier Cardinale suddenly forging a future together with both houses, efforts were made to turn this blessing into something beautiful. Even if much of the family refuse to change the colours of their arms and flying machines, the island and it's name was free to combine their efforts further... after quite the fair amount of bickering.
  • Freeport - "Wings Spread Free", though there are many perceptions as to who lives here, the small town of Freeport is filled with many mercenary companies, merchant gatherings, bands of corsairs, and displaced households with no home of their own. Even if, in the times of peace and calm, most of these groups simply tend to whatever internal matters they have as they go about their days.

Noteworthy History

  • Known as the Bezumidan Revolts, the United Western Coalition fell into an internal conflict lasting from [Date.BR1] to [Date.BR2]. While the exact cause of Bezumida's combined efforts and decisions have either been concealed or lost, they began a war against their three neighbouring countries (With [Other One] initially assisting Bezumida) in an attempt to seek complete independence from the UWC. Their overwhelming aerial superiority was quickly lost by an astonishing amount of anti-air barrages denying the Bezumidians the use of their greatest assets.
    • While the Bezumidian side was relatively undermanned, the assistance provided by the country of [Unclear] providing both additional manufacturing and manpower vital for the war effort.

Noteworthy Fauna and Flora

  • Coalbill Stork - A biological curiosity that is rarely seen even at the best of times, albeit throughout the entire Bezumidian Archipelago. The Coalbill Stork is a frequently soot and ash-covered creature similar to most storks (It should be noted that they are not directly related Phoenixes, despite common belief). However, due to currently unknown reasons, the Coalbill Stork has evolved the ability to generate intense and frequently lethal amounts of fire.
    • Specimens that have found their way into captivity and research have been immensely helpful with understanding the processes it undertakes, as various stores of exothermic chemicals violently interact beneath their pyrophobic feathers. The name 'Coalbill' is a reference to their fiery nature, and that people used to believe they ate any flammable objects they could to stoke their flames, though this has been proven false.
