Hey! I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but I think it'd be cool to have a place for bilingual people to translate some cool phrases or words for creations. Personally I'm looking to see if someone can correctly translate "You can't handle the truth" from English to Latin.
I'm not bilingual myself, unfortunately, but maybe others who want correct translations can build this post up and help each other.
So what kinds of things do you want translated for your creations and how do you use them? I like using phrases or words to create names or locations :)
Edit: Wow, this post blew up more than I originally thought it would! From now on, I'll try to list the languages and the users that speak said languages below to make it easier for others to find the proper person they need! If there's any problems at all with what's listed, please let me know and I'll change it ASAP. If there are languages that are together that the native speakers suggest be separated, please also let me know! mozaik :0 How is it going? Is it getting easier to read/translate manga? Which ones have you done so far? It's exciting to meet others who know a language like this! I've always had issues reading other languages, but things like seeing Harry Potter written in Korean (thanks, Markiplier) fascinates me! I'll be sure to put you on the list for Japanese! it's definitely gotten easier than when i'd just started trying to read raws a year or two ago cx i started out with doujinshi and various BL manga, and those.. rarely have furigana LOL so it was really slow going, but i've been slowly refreshing my kanji memory bank bc of that... rn i'm following several ongoing series, some of which the raws tend to leak earlier than the official @@ ;; and i'm impatient so i like to peek at those haha
atm i've actually started working on nobunaga concerto about a week ago (a really really good shounen(?) manga T_T that was picked up and dropped by 2 separate groups ~9 vols ago, so i'm like f-free real estate..!?? hhh) i'm just doing it in my spare time though, and haven't taken much time to actually do the whole process. i read on mobile when i'm on the bus and such though, and i can get through at a decent speed with minimal dictionary app consulting. it helped that a lot of the kanji i didn't know ended up actually being a pretty small pool of the same ones with repeated usage, and with stuff like castle/fort after long string of kanji it's easy to infer from plot context what they're talking about (and look up to confirm if needed). and those names + their individuals parts get easier to recognize with time.
though still, the biggest challenge rn is kanji bc my knowledgebank of that is pathetic tbh sdklfjsd (stuff without furigana took ages bc i'd stop to manually look up multiple kanji per page via stroke order- i used to actually use a physical mandarin- or JP-ENG dictionary, but now i've got a smartphone/reliable internet so o7), but there's some kanji that are so common you just remember it after seeing/looking it up enough times. and also some that only come up in eeerr certain situations. shipping may be an unconventional pnemonic device but like hey, if it works it works LOOOL
aside from that i poke around in JP fanart tags/am sent stuff by my friends and i try to TL those- those were the most helpful for learning to recognize colloquialisms, and also what is probably a colloquial speech pattern or word based on structure..! grammar/flow/fluency wise, my reading is definitely less stilted than when i started; i feel like it's ended up having a similar effect to learning to speak via immersion tbh LOL though i can't even talk well in ENG (my 1st language) so i'm still gonna panic if i have to... talk to people.. haha...
mozaik :0 Oh wow, you've really gone through it! That's great to hear, though, that you're doing so well in it! But I don't blame you for struggling with kanji, even the native speakers struggle with it from what I've heard XD If you don't mind, though, if I have a kanji question and me and my partner can't figure it out, I'd like to send it to you to see if you get it! Might give you more practice too XD

I've been using reverso-context for my translations to Italian, and then double checking the translation in google to see how accurate it is. It's been pretty good for building the occasional sentence in a foreign language cause it shows you the actual sentences so you can see the words in use.
I would be willing to help in French, Arabic and if anyone is interested in my country's dialect called Darija! Your thread is a really nice idea ;;o;;

Our official language is Arabic and the languages used in my country are Darija, Amazigh (and all it's variants from different regions), Arabic, French, Spanish and English (some places got a bit if Portuguese taught I think too). We communicate using Darija and Amazigh!
