15. Lonely Road - 29. Deal with the Devil

Grymm walks down the fog covered dirt road. He had been for a while now and he swore that it just kept getting longer. He should have come to the crossroads by now, surely. He pops his neck and shifts the box he had under his arm.

He was getting tired of this. But he wasn’t one to break an agreement. Even just a preliminary one.

But he was getting lonely on this long walk.

He sighs and continues walking. He eventually sees a glowing red orb in the distance and he has to fight himself to not sprint towards it. He keeps walking at the same pace and after a few minutes he reaches the spot.

Finally at the Crossroads and takes a deep breath. “Sorry if I am late. I parked a lot farther away than I meant to, Pitt.”

The Auratail raises his red paper lantern, “No problems at all. I am patient.” The way the glow of the lantern hit his face was eerie but Grymm suspects his expression looks just as strange in the lighting.

“You know looking at the two of us, someone walking by would probably think I am the Crossroads Devil. But I suspect you might be more so between the two of us.” Grymm muses.

Pitt cackles. “If only these hypothetical people knew what was transpiring here then hm? How disappointed they would all be.”

Grymm nods and chuckles as well. “Yea, honestly, this all would be super anticlimactic to the casual observer. Good thing no one is here. I would hate to be a disappointment.” He holds out the box he brought. “Here's the goods. A near mint black lo-” He clears his throat. “Ah still don’t trust that there might not be people out there. Don’t want to get jumped on the way back. Anyway it's in there.”

Pitt excitedly cracks open the box and peeks inside. “Woah, I never thought I would ever get my hands on one of these. I can’t believe it's in my hands right now. I really feel like the Devil in this situation.” He laughs, “Here’s yours.” He holds out a little envelope and Grymm opens the flap.

He looks through the contents for a second before closing it again and tucking it into his jacket. “No no, I am getting exactly what I want. So there’s no devils here. You enjoy that. A pleasure doing business, friend.”

Pitt nods still peeking at the contents of the box. “For sure! Be safe now!”
