October Prompts

Belldayn wipes her brown. “Wehw! It’s done!” She tosses a piece of plywood over her shoulder. It was the tool she had used to pat down the path in her corn maze. This was her biggest one yet! And her most convoluted one too! There was even a false (off)center area to get people really confused! She wiggles with excitement but winces as her sore shoulders protested the movement. 

She stands there beaming some more before popping her back and picks the board up again. She goes to puts it away before getting cleaned up. 

While cleaning and then eating her dinner, she couldn't stop thinking about her handiwork and how proud she was of this year’s event. Her mind starts to drift to already coming up with ideas to outdo herself next year, but she shakes mind of these. 

First things First. It was time to test it.

The sun was just setting so she had some time of natural light still, but not enough that she doesn’t not hurry towards the entrance. 

He hesitates as she crosses the threshold. She considers telling someone she was going to be in there. She considers it for a few seconds before deciding that she literally just finished it. There was no way she could get lost, it was also literally designed by her. With all these “literals” swirling her mind she stretches and heads right in, not wanting to hesitate any longer. 

She wanders through her aisles for a little while. She was meandering, strolling even, taking in every twist and turn and double back she had hand carved through the stalks of corn. A tear came to her eye. It really was beautiful. 

The light dimmed more, enough that her solar-powered candles lit up, illuminating the paths with an artificially flickering glow. She had to give up on real ones years ago. She shakes her head trying not to remember that one.
