E4. Day of revenge

E4. Your lion got into trouble, explain what happened to them and how they were hurt. [ 414/400 word minimum ]

Finding Greu took longer than he expected. At one point he was close to giving up hope of ever seeing him again, but there he was. The same dark pelt and mane that he remembered, but weathered and aged. A large scar going across his face and eyes with the same bright glint in them. The eyes he hated more than anything in the world. Rage welled up inside him. He easily got angry, but this time was worse than ever. He greeted his father and attacked before the lion could get a chance to reply.

Sura was young, but experienced in fighting. He spent a large portion of his adult life battling with other lions. He was young, fast and fierce which often gave him an advantage even against stronger opponents. He expected to take down the old man easily, but despite advanced age Greu has proven to be a worthy rival. Su ran around him, slashing with sharp claws from all sides, all the while slipping in the mud, but Greu countered all of his attacks.

The battle grew fiercer. Rain kept pouring from the sky and soon both the lions were soaked and covered in mud. The slippery ground and limited visibility made it harder to fight. With manes plastered to their faces, with raindrops falling into their eyes, they bit and charged at each other with full force. Greu was larger and stronger and it gave him an advantage in this situation. Suddenly Su felt a sharp jolt of pain run through his body as Greu’s sharp teeth clasped over his ear. He managed to free himself by ripping the ear from between Greu’s jaws.

Both lions were exchanging equal amount of hits. Soon they were pained and exhausted. Blood mixed with mud and rain. Su backed off to catch his breath and this gave Greu the opportunity to talk. They had a father and son conversation for the first time since Su was a cub. All that time he thought his parent hated him, but it turned out not to be true. In the end they managed to bury the hatchet and come to terms with each other. It was lucky they did, since they matched in power and Su wasn’t sure who would’ve come out on top if they kept on fighting.

A nick in his ear would be the only permanent reminder of this encounter. A reminder of the father that left him, but never stopped caring.
