N. Soley & Neno

Soley & Neno [ 508/500 word minimum ]

A long time ago in a faraway kingdom lived a little princess. As the youngest in the family she was always pampered and treated as the greatest treasure. Her life might have seemed like a dream, but there was always something lacking. Or rather, someone. Her kingdom was at a state of war with another. Her father, as the king, was responsible for ordering commanders of his armies and was rarely seen at the castle. Even if Soley got to see him sitting on the throne in the main chamber of the castle, he was too busy to give her any of his precious time. The situation was similar with her mother. Though she stayed away from the battlefields and was present at the castle, she took the role of the main advisor to the king and spent most of her time planning and negotiating. Soley often felt that she was in her way.

The little cub was lucky to have two siblings, an older sister and a brother. Prospit was supposed to be the heir and stood by his father’s side. If he did spend any time with his sister it was just to tease her. Ra was the closest one to Soley and played the role of a mother and listened to Soley and comforted her whenever she needed it most.

One day the king returned from the battlefield with a cub Soley has never seen before. He explained that it will be living in the castle alongside them and learning to be a servant. A situation like that has never happened before. Though Soley was very young herself, the cub was even smaller. It looked like an adorable toy and Soley fell in love with it at first sight. She helped the servants take care of it and became the lonely cub’s best friend. With time as she wasa growing up and maturing, she started to feel more towards him than just an interesting new lion. The little cub was extremely afraid of fire. She was told that his parents died in it and he was rescued from flames. Soley learnt to play the role of a big sister to him, teach him everything she knew and comfort him whenever he needed it. It was thanks to him that she stopped feeling as a child that needs constant attention, but as an individual that can help others and pick her own way in life instead of just looking for approval of her parents. When she decided to become a knight she proposed that Neno join the guard with her and he accepted. Together they played, trained and slept. They were virtually inseparable, closer to each other than they ever felt towards anyone else. They put their trust in each other and hoped to one day say their vows to the kingdom and protect it together as knights to king Propsit. Though Neno still feared fire, when he was with Soley he felt safer and knew that she would potect him, just as he would protect her.
