N. Skye & Andromeda

Skye & Andromeda [ 542/500 word minimum ]

Together with Sazha Skye has been ruling over the Island of Dreams for over three weeks. He was really pleased with the progress they have made on it. They had a beautiful river full of tasty salmon, gently flowing near one of the borders. They were surrounded by tall, green trees giving them shade from the summer sun. They even built a little shack where they could hide during stormy weather. It wasn’t much, but it was their new home and on land that belonged completely to them and noone else. They finally had the peace they wanted. It was their land and only their closes friends were allowed to live there. It was paradise. Skye had it all. He should have been the most happy tiger in the world. Except… it was too peaceful. He would never admit it, but he missed the daily strife he had with Kanavu. It was thrilling and fun, even if dangerous. That’s why, during those peaceful days he sneaked out of their little private eden and ventured out to explore the rest of the island. That’s how he met Andromeda. She brought back the thrill he sought back into his life.

After he and Sazha have declared the Island of Dreams their land, everyone knew that Kanavu wouldn’t be happy about it. Technically, they had no right to do that. All the land belonged to him. They basically declared in broad daylight that they’re stealing a piece of it. At first, Kanavu only laughed at this ridiculous idea, but after he’d seen that they were serious about it, he would definitely take action. They were prepared to defend their land, that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that all the lions in the land knew that a conflict was brewing and wanted to have no part in it. Skye’s friends living on the Island of Dreams wanted to stay quiet and refused to go exploring with him, preparing themselves for eventual defence against Kanavu. Lions still under Kanavu’s rule barely spoke to him out of fear of being labelled traitors or spies to the crown. Skye wasn’t used to being ignored like that. No matter how annoying he became, noone would even shout at him, they would all just walk away, mumbling that they were busy and that Skye should return to his land. It was frustrating and made him feel lonely. He had to expand his area of exploration.

Andromeda was an answer to his silent calls. She did not just not ignore him, but actively got into an argument with him. Skye’s way of making friends was by being insolent and pushing their bounds until they got really mad at him. It was his way of testing the water to tell if they could become best friends. Usually they got annoyed with him pretty quickly, but not Andromeda. She was equal to him in the level of sass. Perhaps even exceeded it. After he splashed her with water, she didn’t leave as most lions would, but jumped into the river, drenching him from his head to the tip of his tail. Since then he would sneak out of the Island of Dreams more and more often to go and see his new friend.
