ANNOUNCEMENT: THREAD CLOSING
People probably saw this coming from the increase in skipped/late weeks already, and while I really wanted to keep the thread running, I have come to realize it's just not something I have the time and energy to do. I have gotten increasingly more busy with IRL obligations and in turn used TH less and less, and after a little over 5 years it starts to get a bit more difficult to think of themes that haven't been used yet.
Nevertheless, it's been fun, and I have greatly enjoyed seeing all the characters people have posted here over the years! I didn't expect I'd keep up with this thread every week for this many years, with only a total of 3 skips (two of which are from the past few months). I would like to thank everyone who has posted their characters here and kept the thread alive!
Though I will no longer be updating this thread with new prompts, I'll keep it up & unlocked for people to post their characters if they still want to continue doing it - after all, this thread has always allowed people to post characters based on past prompts as well. I'm also cool with people remaking this thread on their own - just shoot me a message, and I'll link the new thread here. I still check TH daily even if I no longer have much of a presence around the forums.

Oh geez, I have so many. With the exceptions of Rickie and Frequency, I think everyone in this tag is a funny/joke/crack character.
Some of them:
- ASTROBOT, the killer robot baseball scout who likes to look pretty
- Bartolomeo, the field mouse beekeeper who is obsessed with bee-themed revenge
- BEEF BEEF, 99 years old and better than ever
- Chanda, the man-eating panther whose best friend is a torn-off human arm
- Danger Doop, my most beautiful OC, a wrestler who desperately wants to be loved
- Hej, a bush who is also a pirate and whose son is a ghost
- Salmonman, a superhero fish with abs
- Captain Riptide, a seagull supervillain who is Salmonman's nemesis and hates sandcastles

I also have Wren, who is a big memeboy. I'm planning on drawing him in all sorts of funny situations in the future.
I feel like a lot of my OCs fall under this category because I have a soft spot for more lighthearted stories/characters even in settings that aren't necessarily all that happy or light. But yeah Cyrus definitely is one of the best examples I have out of my cast: his looks clash with his personality and he is constantly getting into trouble and finding himself in weird and bizarre situations because he just... is a mess like that. And it's usually played for laughs because it's usually harmless kind of shenanigans. He is also not always the brightest and is super oblivious to the internal hierarchy of the boarding school so he tends to treat everyone the same, causing strange situations wherever he goes
- Ambrosius is not a comedy character per say but he is definitely still more on the silly/lighthearted side! He has a cool exterior because he is a prince and has to present himself well as not to get taken advantage of, but since he is a unicorn he is actually very overly emotional and reacts to things very slowly. He is fast to panic and get dramatic when things go south and, typical for unicorns, he is somewhat vain and also tends to crush on others easily. He is definitely a well meaning hassle haha.
- Emil is a mess and his whole setting is mostly comedy but with a hint of horror/paranormal, heh. He is very eccentric and often does things in a weird way but he means well and is an overall happy person! It's just that he is so naive and looks much younger than he is and he isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed so his misadventures are usually filled with lighthearted and silly situations. Similarly since Miles is part of Emil's story he also falls under the comic relief, although Miles is more of he straight man to Emil's ridiculous antics. However, Miles doesn't really need Emil to be around to find himself being the focus of comedic shenanigans.
- Knut is bossy and thinks highly of himself and is always having his shenanigans but his personality is always played for the laughs & the general tone of his character is pretty silly and lighthearted. Of course because of his setting and backstory there are serious moments too, but generally I portray him as a harmless fool.
- Kipinä has a difficult past and she has a very cool exterior but on her free time and with friends she is pretty silly and, like Ambrosius, somewhat emotional and sometimes naive and oblivious. Think about Kashima from Nozaki-kun and you get a really good idea of what her character is like.
- Leon is a fool and even he knows it and is definitely one of the main sources of jokes in Sinfonia! He willingly makes himself the joker because that's how he gains approval and attention from others & he is naturally very rebellious and delights in testing his limits and doing things on impulse. My fave thing about him is that he has a really good singing voice and the choir club is constantly chasing after him in hopes of recruiting him, and at this point Leon treats it almost like a game, trying to see what are the most Extra ways to escape from them as possible. He has jumped out of the window more often than not in escapades. Similarly Rick serves the same role as he admires Leon andthey have similar personalities, but Rick is more... I guess tender? than Leon is and in his case it's his naivety that is supposed to be the source of laughs. Walter in turn is witty and very over-the-top.
- Merrill is also a comedy character despite her setting being pretty dark! She is absolutely unwilling to take off her uniform and wear more time period appropriate clothes, and even when she does the sword WILL stay and nothing can stop her from carrying it around. She is also generally just ridiculous and her small size vs how fierce she can be are definitely one of the reasons she is seen as a comic relief a lot of the time.
- Rosemarie is sort of a comic relief but she is also simultaneously the protagonist type. She is fair and smart but sometimes very dramatic and over-the-top and fast to get herself (and her friends) into trouble
- Teru is naturally pretty solemn, but having lived and spent time with Hannes has made him the joker of the group to strike balance to Hannes' extremely serious exterior. Teru very much enjoys his position as the clown especially because all his friends know and acknowledge Teru can be super reliable and serious too when he wants to be, and are aware Teru intentionally puts himself in the role of the joker.
I guess...it's rather obvious from the fact that I used a chibi drawing as his icon - the only guy among my OCs to have this privilege, just how much he isn't supposed to be a serious character. And only one of out of six art on his profile shown him is a 'more serious' expression. The rest? A few weird draw your squad drawings or chibi drawings that presents him as the mischievous pain in the bum who can never been taken seriously. Zhenya purely exists in the plot as the main '(unintentionally)destructive, something-always-goes-wrong' type of prankster, a loudmouth who gets on his no-nonsense boss' nerve daily.
Another one could be Sidor, who at first I created to capitalize the the comedic effect of the 'fall into the sea' accident in 2005. Lately he kinda of grew more serious in some aspect, but nevertheless his usual quarrel with Kolya(who in some degree is a rather comedic character himself) is still the center of his role.
And despite his dramatic backstory, the present role of Panteleyev certainly presents him in a light heart way. The random spurt of adding Japanese and Korean honorifics behind his older brothers' name, his silly addiction to cup ramen and other junk food. When paired with his strict older brother Shaposhnikov, the main comedic duo in the Pacific Fleet is born.
The rest that don't originally exist for comedic purpose but gradually become one because of I like to make fun of my OCs are::
Jarilo (being murdered annually is a tragedy and comedy on its own especially when he tries futilely to survive)
From his wacky tie to his goofy face there is not a serious thing about Bok! I haven't had a chance to use him much, but he's completely untrustworthy and totally silly.
Slice is another one who's hard to take seriously. He's a total drama queen who tends to blow situations out of proportion, sometimes to the point of his own detriment, just for the sake of the drama. He's a serious artist when it comes to his music, and has plenty of fans, but everyone who knows him personally knows that he's mostly a big ham.
Peters, in that same setting, is totally silly as well. Nobody knows where he came from or why he does what he does, but week in and week out, he delivers fresh milk right to everyone's doorstep. It's incredibly suspicious, and very silly.

Anyways, this is XACTA and she's based off "early 2000's TACOZ PANCAKEZ XD!" vibe meets speedcore and crafting. She's a disaster but I still love her
while i have a lot of characters that fit this prompt, they all have their own problems and flaws that make them kinda not work w/ it at the same time
tho maverick here is basically a joke OC and is basically the human embodiment of how me and my bf talk to each other when we're being dickheads (aka just being so painfully australian it's cringeworthy) and... yeah, mav and his buddy jayden are the worst and are meant to be funny (or they are to us at least, as they're almost a personified inside joke)
Even if pure crack OCs aren't really my thing, basically none of my characters have to taken super seriously. I like to do jokes and meme art about all of them so I could basically post them all but
- Lucifer! Basically a 'played for laughs' 'edgy' character, even if he has some serious parts
- His bro, Michel! Started as a pretty serious character but now he is full of silly references and has the most of meme art
- Dunno if I'll get some hate for this but... Anastasia started as a private joke with close friends!
- Ofc The Paradoxal Collection is an humorous comic, so the main character has to be comedic as well. Meet Steve.
