If one individual walked in on the other crying, how would they respond or comfort the other?

Prompt R 19 - Berkeley and Virva

Berkeley and Virva's relationship is... complicated. And that's understandable, really - Neither of them are exactly normal cats. And their relationship changed significantly with time, too. So, how would they react to the other's tears? Well...
At the beginning, it would be perhaps too awkward of a situation for either of them to do anything, if we're being honest. Virva held a lot of animosity towards Berkeley at first, and Berkeley themselves was well aware of that fact. If Virva were to see them crying then, she would probably sit and watch for a few seconds, one part annoyed, another concerned, and a third almost a little bit smug, before deciding that she wasn't going to get involved in whatever was happening there and walking away. She'd spent too much time under the thumb of the gods already - She wasn't going to go running back to help them now, after she finally managed to get away from them. And Berkeley... they didn't know why Virva seemed to hate them, but they knew she did, and would have known that any approach they made would only make things worse, despite any genuine concern they might have for her. So instead of trying to comfort her themselves, they'd more likely have left her alone and gone off to let one of the other Wayfarers know what they had seen, in the hopes that somebody else might be of more help to her than they would be.
But eventually, that animosity turned from something deep and hateful to something... still not pleasant, but a bit less cruel. And so Virva's reaction might change, depending on her mood. She might actually approach Berkeley, albeit not with a whole lot of compassion. Probably roll her eyes at the whole affair and complain about their blubbering, or snarkily ask what they could possibly have to be upset about. On a good day, she might actually listen, if Berkeley was actually willing to talk to her instead of hastily brushing it off as nothing and apologizing for bothering her. And Berkeley, seeing Virva crying, might eventually be willing to risk getting snapped at to approach her and offer to lend an ear (or four) to her troubles. Eventually.
And at some point in that stage they might have recognized something in each other, things that weren't quite the same for both of them, but weren't so different, either. And things might not be all sunshine and rainbows between them at that point, but... they weren't so negative, either. A sort of mutual acknowledgement that neither is a bad person, really, they've just found themselves in weird circumstances, and that's not worth hating the other for. And their reactions would change in turn - They were here together, as part of the Wayfarers, one way or another, and they would stick together to a reasonable extent. Virva might not understand what Berkeley means or have much in the way of replies if they start to talk about their pasts, but she would listen, at least. And Berkeley... well, they've lived their fair share of lives. If they could figure out a way to help her with her problems, some sort of advice to share, with all the experience they've had, they would try.
And maybe somewhere down the line, after all of this, they would come to understand each other better. Maybe they would even be friends. That would be nice, wouldn't it?
