Who does/did this character admire most?

Prompt I 22 - Amara

It's not exactly hard to see who Amara admires most, given her history. She's trained all her life under the gods to be a worthy successor, or at least a worthy deity of her own domain, in her own right - Such a life is all she's ever known. Of course the gods have her deepest respect! It's only natural, after all. They are her guides, her family, beings of great power who were so generous as to choose her to train beneath them. It's an honor.
But... that's not quite all there is to the story. Because although such a life is all she can recall, there was a life and a family before the deities and their other disciples. One that fed into her respect for the gods with their stories and art, and one that, deep in lost memories, she might have admired even more than the deities she left them for. Which might seem odd - If she admired her family, why did she leave them behind? But perhaps it was because she wished to be someone that they could admire in turn. With all the stories they told her, of course she would find greatness in the gods, and of course she would see that her family believes in that greatness, too. What better way to honor them than to become one herself? She may not remember it now, but though she admires the gods, she admired her family more.
